I called Nitto today and they advised same rubber compound in c or e. They also advised in the 265/70-17 both the c and e have same 2 ply sidewall so the only difference is how they are laid out within the tire. I would assume the c would ride softer but the rep would not state that is the case with these due to both having just a 2 ply sidewall

Yup, I posted that each time I called them (twice) but it is great to have someone else reiterate it. I talk a lot and I know some people probably think I am talking outta my butt most of the time. They told me the same thing and no matter what I could not get them to say what I wanted to hear, and that is that the E rated tire is Harder than the C rated tire. All they would say, as you just posted, is that the wires are laid out differently which in turn increases the load rating/psi. That's it.

That's why if I buy these again, and I likely will, I will buy E's again. I tow, not all the time but sometimes, and when I do I want the added strength. My thought on this for off roading is that if I air these down then they are still able to withstand more force acting against them too.

Aaannnnd, there I go talking a lot again.

Maybe its winter gas vs summer gas, but my mpgs have gone up in the last 3 tanks to almost 19 with the E rated version of these.

That could definitely be the case. Mine was over 18 on the last tank and that's up 2.

Increased ethanol and slightly different formula in gas during winter months. Your mileage will go down around November/October and up around April/May

a lot of bad ass stuff
I've got a friend who has been running those for about two years or so now. He's got no complaints, but has said his next set of tires will be the ridge grapplers.

I hear they are great in the mud, but not so great in the snow. For the obvious reasons. These will most likely be a lot louder than the Ridge Grappler too. Look for lower MPGs as well. However, I do see these on a lot of jeeps in my neck of the woods and we get some snow. They are a little lighter vehicle so maybe that's the defining factor. They are pretty beefy looking. That's for sure. I would certainly not let them stop me from buying a 4Runner with them on it. If you don't like them, you will not have a problem selling them.

Nice, is that the recommended pressure for your set?

No, the door tag says 32 psi, and the tires say 80 psi LOL That would be insanity. I know originally when I asked the question a guy on here (and I'm a dufus for not remembering his name or being able to find the post) based the weight of the truck and the load range of the tire did some hocus pocus math trickery and came up with 37 psi.

I run that in the front because of me and the engine being up there and no load in the rear besides the Bak X2 Tonneau. I bump the rear up to 37 when I load it down when we go on vacation.

I should just do the damn chalk test to be 100% sure. To be honest, at 36/37 there is still some bulge. Also, since I have the TPMS I can monitor each tire and I do that occasionally while I am running down the highway. On average, the pressure increases anywhere from 3-4 psi from the heat. So I am happy with them being a little firmer at 41 psi to help with MPGs than I am with them at 32 psi which would obviously not be as good. Even though they would increase to that 36/37 on the road. When I do the chalk test eventually I will do it with them hot at the 41 psi and then let some air out to bring them back to mimic the cold psi and do it again.

Oh, and I have 3 pressure gages. 1 mechanical dial and two digital. I don't trust any of them but the one I have is better than the other two.

The suggested PSI for mine is 50 and that's what I've been running. Just feel like that's a little much.

That sounds high, running 33psi all around on my 295/70/17’s thinking about bumping it to 38-40 .
