A mesh grille will be fine as long as it doesn't restrict any airflow. These lights do have built-in thermal management technology if they get too hot. The lights typically go into thermal management mode if you've been running them at idle for a long period of time with absolutely no wind. The only thing that might happen is the light will dim when overheated and go back to full brightness when temps are optimal. If you're driving and the lights have some airflow you'll be fine. :D

With so much heat, would these be a bad choice for a guy who mostly slowly rock crawls and would leave them on with my truck not moving? Other BD options? Love your product!

I would say others would be a better choice. these are great for hauling ass in the desert. for slow, i use the bd rock lights and some small light bars on my fj40 crawler. adding some S2s on it also. Unless you are talking Ultra4 then i think the squadrons and rock lights are your best bet

No need to worry about heat!

Our lights have a built-in Thermal Management system if they get too hot. If the lights start to overheat they will dim slightly to allow the light to run at a safer temperature. This typically only happens when the truck isn't moving and there isn't a breeze. Even a slight breeze is enough to cool these down although the truck moving will be ideal.

We do have other great options that also feature the same thermal management technology. These aren't quite as powerful but still put out a lot of usable light. I'd recommend something in our Squadron or XL Series if you want a lower profile light.

while I love the raw look of the machined housing, that new cast one just looks a lot cleaner and sleeker. Kind of wish I had known of the coming change, might have waited the month to order in order to get that new housing.

Is there any chance of these fitting behind the grill of a 3rd gen? I was originally planning on BD's 30" grill mount kit, but unless I'm wrong a hidden winch occupies the same spot, so I'm looking for other solutions.

Definitely! The LP9 housing isn't very deep (3.25") so you can fit a set behind the grille. We don't carry a behind the grille bracket set but a few companies do. I'd recommend searching around and finding what's best for your application.

Going over my SR9 and it says the high beam(pin4) and low beam(pin1) cannot be on at the same time. Why is this????

You mean LP9, correct? When the LP9 is in High Beam mode all forward projection lighting will fire (including low beam). Running Low Beam while High Beam is already on could potentially cause a circuit board issue (although rare).

Currently running 4 Baja Design lights and one rigid light bar. I really like using the 4 BD pods over the 20" rigid bar. The bar seems to not place the light where expected, the pods are very direct. I'd be willing to fabricate a new custom grill after seeing the LP9's first hand. The LP9 look like a very sweet setup.

Right now I want to wrap up a few projects before taking on more work..

Awesome light! My only gripe was the DRL is really dim(3 Amber LEDs; 1 behind the BD logo, and 2 higher up tucked behind the reflector cones).

So I had to custom it up a little...

***WARNING*** This will probably void warranty :D

First, I didn't like the excessive chrome. So I blacked out the side shrouds and left only the vital chrome for the reflector areas
    [IMG]

Then I CNC'd a heatsink to house a new DRL emitter (3-up Luxon rebels with a 1000mA buckpuck driver stuffed inside)
Optics installed(spot) so it will shine right thought the logo on the outter lens.

I unplugged the DRL wire inside the light and redirected it to my new DRL. That way the factory waterproof seal with wire pass through is untouched.

And on! WAY brighter than stock.. sorry Baja:/. but the high beam is awesome!!
Since this is going on my motorcycle I wanted to be as visible as can be

That is a sweet emitter. I have a few laying around and think they are going to be turn signals/stop lights for a pending build

Yup. I have some 1-ups (red And amber) that I'll be using in a custom brake light

@Baja Designs, time to re-tool. This would be great, especially if there was an option in a harness to wire in with the stock truck DRL.

Yes - your warranty isn't valid anymore. We don't expect you to have any issues but please keep this in mind.
