Yeah that ^^^ compared to my wife's Honda CR-v manual ... the Honda feels like I'm driving a go cart with a shifter. I went to push the clutch in on the Honda for the first time in like 8 months and I damn near pushed the pedal thru the floor boards. Woah... and we have a new clutch in the Honda has about 5K miles on it.

Its a truck OP feels a lot different than your Vdub... I've had a few of them with m/t as well. You should be getting used to it by now??
TBH my 2nd favorite clutch was in a Chevy Astro Van with a 5 speed on the floor.. that shit was HD.
Row row row your gears... merrily down the road!

Gear ratios don't have anything to do with where the clutch catches at but there will definitely be differences on how everything feels from vehicle to vehicle.

I was used to it, and I do realize car and truck clutches are apples and oranges...

I also had a '14 that I put 60k miles on. The jetta was a recent acquisition and I hadn't driven a manual transmission in a car in over 4 years. It's amazing how quickly your brain can adapt. I've only put 6k on the car since I got it.

    Is the clutch pedal adjustable?

Adjustable for free play only. It is Hydraulic and there is no wear adjustment

Right. I was referencing that! Any advantages to having free play?

I wouldn't go that far, but I was just noticing this morning how nice it was dropping into gears, even 2nd to 1st while moving. The first shift or two on cold start up is a bit stiff, but that is hardly a complaint.

At this point (about 500mi in), I'd say that it is a definite improvement over the original stuff.

Not really. It's extra pedal travel that doesn't accomplish anything. If it is set too tight (0 or less free play), you can potentially slip the clutch causing excess wear. Free play is not something that should require adjusting in most cases. It is not affected by clutch wear.

Free play? Not sure because I never felt the need to look it up. I'm pretty sure it's a threaded shaft/jamb nut arrangement on the firewall behind the pedal.

Happened to me too after driving a rental Chevy Camaro a couple years ago for a week during xmas...thing was so much fun to drive but the clutch felt like it weighed 100lbs compared to my Tacoma. Hopped back into my truck a week later and just about sent my foot and the clutch pedal through the floor.

I do this every time I drive the wife's car. I keep telling her she needs to make an appointment to get her 3rd pedal checked. It seems to be missing.

Even better is when I come to a stop sign/light try to downshift and slam on the brakes.

Seriously though. It is amazing how little we have to think about clutching and gear changes after driving a particular vehicle for any length of time. I am convinced I am imagining things with my truck, but the dealer is humoring me and will take a look tomorrow.

That's good news. I'll be due coming up this summer and you've convinced me (this and other posts) to use the Redline. Mine is still stock MT fluid but it is really smooth considering. Can't wait to feel it with the superior fluid. :burnrubber:

FWIW, I have found that my truck shifts and drives better with TRAC off.

Yeah there was a thread not to long ago about someone saying the truck driving better with TRAC off. I tried it for a day before we got snow and haven't thought to try it again. I honestly couldn't tell with just my morning commute before the elements came. Thanks for reminding me I'll have to try it more.
