After the charger and the bully dog set up. That’s what Dino was reading at five star tuning.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
OP to check trans fluid in 3rd Gens it's similar to doing on 2nd Gens too. There's a drain plug and a check plug on the transmission pan, make sure you are certain which is which, as you don't want to pull the drain plug.

You basically use a tech tool or a scangauge set to the transmission temps in the pan, not the Torque Converter, and wait until the temps hit between 95 - 115 degrees in the pan. Too hot or too cold and the test will not be valid, as Transmission fluid expands under heat, and the overflow valve is set at the particular height to accommodate that temperature / fluid level.

Basically if you get the transmission temp to spec, you'll have a few minutes before it goes out of band, but you can pull that overflow and see if anything comes out. If it's just barely trickling that means it's full. If nothing comes out, it might be dead on...might be low. If a lot rushes out, it was over-filled.

This isn't an exactl explanation, you're going to want to get a better detailed explanation on the web, but mine was filled correctly from the factory. I only checked it when I added an aftermarket trans cooler to improve cooling at low speed offroading and towing.

In a nutshell, that's the idea, however.

And that surging you're explaining...yes...that's normal unfortunately. It feels just like that on all 3rd gens due to fuel maps. While expensive, the OVTune is likely your answer for that. I'd skip the Pedal commander, Shiftsense, and those gadgets. Gears will turn bigger tires, and the OVTune will clean up the fuel delivery.
