Why not just this for a whole lot less money:

It looks like there might be an additional 20% off?

Spot on, lol. I did the math this morning because I was curious. Not quite 3 week's yet with my 18. $2050 spent. Plenty more coming.

Just imagine my emptiness with no engine mods other than removing that charcoal filter. I want that HPS hose, an axle dump, and the crossover reroute but am trying to be good.

Back when I had my 2016 Tacoma, I worked directly with Airaid on the development of their CAI. We went through several different designs, subtle tweaks here and there, road tests and a few dyno days.

Working directly with the engineers and development team, you gain a lot on insight and see first hand what was real improvement and what was not. One of the versions saw a pretty good gain in HP but drivability sucked and the truck kept throwing codes, so that design got scrapped and a more mild design was created that produced less HP, like maybe 5, but didn't throw codes, so that's the one that ultimately went into production.

Having said that, any HP gains are pretty negligible, but throttle response was definitely improved across the board. I ultimately opted to not run the intake on my 17 because I hated the loud induction noise and since it wasn't much of an improvement in the power department, I couldn't justify listening to the loud ass induction, especially on long drives. I do have the TRD exhaust which I like a lot as I feel like it's the best sounding exhaust for these trucks, just my opinion. Performance wise, it's doubtful that it offers any increase, not that I'd notice anyway with the addition of armor, sliders, heavy 34" tires and such, but it does sound better than stock and I got it for next to nothing, so why not..

There are some engines that do benefit tremendously from a CAI however our 3.5's are not one of them. The 4.88 gears where the best drivability mod that I've done hands down.

Simple solution to pedal response..... Pedal commander.. Though I do not have one personally, I have heard great reviews from people I trust that know what they are talking about..

No problem. Pedal commander might be your ticket then and wont have to listen to loud induction

Or you when wheeling two days too early? (I kid.)
Two days after I installed my sliders, I was off-roading on some wet "trails". While crawling, my rear tires slid on a wet log and tossed me sideways directly into a tree. My sliders (with kick-outs, thankfully) saved my ass some $$$$$! (And a few times since.)

I got it the first time around Bud. Almost wish I hadn't asked. :homer: Dohh!

On the upside I can't remember ever sharting myself. Came close a few times. I have "fissed" more than a few times in my life though.
Fissed = farting while taking a pi.....,
    You get the idea. :anonymous:

Excellent writeup of the TRD exhaust and CAI @JerryTaco! Too bad @toyotatacomaTRD will never see it since he ignored you! Lol. Totally agree that the 4.88 gears are the best drivability mod out there, especially with all the added weight and the 34" tires.
