I had buyers remorse for getting a longbed for the longest time because I saw almost everyone with a shortbed but I have grown to love my long bed

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
You and me both man...I am still envious of all the used sliders and bed racks that are for shortbeds though lol

That's makes 3 of us haha. after you sleep in the back 1 time you realize how hard it would be in a short bed. I would never trade for short bed but I do wish I had more clearance

I've never been up the Laurel Lakes Rd but have driven a lot of other "trails" in the Eastern Sierra with stock trucks. From what I've read, the switchback on Laurel Lakes is tight but manageable with care. However I think 4wd is important up there; having 4wd reduces trail damage and you don't want to be "that guy" that is stuck and holding up traffic. On the other hand, when I was younger I drove all over the dirt roads off 395 in my Honda Civic and even my TransAm (though I mostly stuck to the flat stuff) ... getting through the sketchy bits in a 2wd was half the fun! My favorite route up there is Silver Canyon from near Bishop, up to the White Mountains. Definitely need 4wd going up, and I'd use low range going down. It is steep.
