Fox 2.5’s with remote resivoirs final decision help

I don’t have them, so someone else feel free to correct me, but I believe they were designed for the 2nd gen originally and give up to 3” of lift on those, but only 2” on the 3rd gen.

Correct. Standard Tacoma IFS works best up to the 3" range. 2016+ already has +1" from factory.

 

Does getting the extended travel with UCA change that?

 

The extended travel increases negative travel, but the overall height should not exceed 3" overall, ideally. And that's the basic suspension. There are exceptions such as drop brackets and long travel ect.

 

I'm sure i'm repeating someone, but I have 2.5's w/res front and back. Had Bilstein 6112 with 5160s in the rear. I have winch, bumper, RTT, bed rack, stupid 34in tires and in day to day driving, the setup of the 6112 was easier. I had to mess around a bunch to get proper ride height. I have the 600 lb springs which seems to be perfect (its an aluminum T3 bumper) outside of the harder (but not impossible setup) the offroad capabilities of the Fox is much better if fatigue is a concern. I was still pretty happy with the Billies offroad too, just would run into fatigue issues in the rear. If budget is no concern and fatigue is, go Fox. I'll eventually do a rear shock relocation to go one step further. Good luck

I’ve got the same setup as you and am wrapping up my install. Where did you end up putting the brake line holder that used to be connected to the overload leaf?

 

We ended up putting mine on the bolt for the leafs.

 

Thanks, did you drill the hole to be a little bigger? I tried that originally and noticed the leaf bolt wasn't getting through.

 

Yea just hit it with a unibit. Worked out just fine

 

i zip tied mine to the AAL bracket. No issues so far.

 

Alright, wrapped my install up and took a spin around the block without any issues.

One thing bugging me is that it feels like the rear reservoir is a little close to the wheel on the passenger side. I can’t adjust it much more without the hose getting close to the shock mount.

How much space do you guys have between your rear wheel and reservoir?

That hose connection is awfully close to that sheer point on the mount. Just a friendly comment. I like the idea though.

 

Yea after the photo we ended up turning the shock a bit. So far so good.. check it every so often

 

I check after every fire road scramble. After hearing stories it just sits in the back of my head haha.

What’s a good starting point? Mine came with 16 threads showing and I tow a small boat from time to time so I’m gonna leave the over load in. I’d like to get it close to where I want them before I install them. Not looking for level, but the factory rake would be good with me.
