How early you thinking about leaving sat morning?

Matt can’t make it this weekend so I think him and I are going to do it 18-20. He’s not locked so this will be a good pre run

We were thinking early, before 8a.m. But we are pretty flexible.

What about Friday night and then just wake up there and hit the trail?
Can camp at the bottom Friday night and at the top sat night?

I have been working a swing shift from 11am to 7pm so that’s why we were thinking sat morning.

Hey all, not sure if this is allowed here, so just let me know and I'll pull it. I've got an Avid Offroad 2016+ front bumper guard that I am looking to get rid of. Due to life changes between ordering and receiving, I really should focus on other things for a while. I will post it to the TW marketplace area once I pull it off, but figure I should mention here first! I'm in the NN/Yorktown area!

Thought I would introduce myself to the TW Region of Virginia. Will be moving to the area (Yorktown/Newport News) in August. Really want to get out and explore some trails and scenery. Not really into extreme or difficult off-roading, more of a moderate type of off-roader (don't feel the need to tear up the rig). Love camping and the outdoors and will keep an eye on this thread when I finally get to Virginia for any meets and trail rides.

Welcome to the area when you get here in August. Not much trail tiding here locally. A few mud holes and short 1/4 mile spots. Most take the 90 minute drive down to Corrolla, NC or further south to the Point in NC. We also have some good mountains 3-4 hours west of here where you have Bald Mountain, Potts Mountain and Flagpole Knob. I'm sure others may chime in at some point so keep an eye out.

I am all about having to drive 3-4 hours if I have too. Got an off-road trailer that will go anywhere I can tow her. Just looking to get out and see some beautiful scenery and get away into the peace and quiet of nature.

Charlottesville, VA is going to be the closest legitimate offroading area to you. Like SOFTACO said, theres spurts here and there though.

For light wheeling, @VA SOFTACO is right. If you want to try some more challenging stuff, there's Uwharrie south of us and Rausch Creek north of us. Both about 5 1/2 hours in their respected directions.

If you're looking for scenic drives as well, Skyline Drive in the fall when the leaves are changing colors is a great one. I just did it for my first time this fall and there's some awesome overlooks. Nothing offroad, but there is camping.
