That's a nice spot! Was a little cold last weekend, definitely want to go back when it's warmed up and the wind dies down. I'd like to camp at the top one of these weekends

@GHOST SHIP hopefully you're online, otherwise I'm going for it. But question:

So I fucked up and sprayed one spot a little heavy and now I have this wrinkle spot.

I have a 220 sanding block, should I as gently as possible try and sand it down enough to put a coat over it? Live with it? Orrr.... how does one fix this? Lol

That looks like contamination under the paint, not too heavy. 220 is way too harsh.

800 to 1000 but it has to set up and cure 100% before you do anything. Then the problem is that once you sand it you have to be able to blend it in to the rest of the paint. Let @GHOST SHIP chime in for sure.

EDIT: I'm use to painting and sanding on fiberglass/composite kayaks so I go real light and slow.

Ahh... didn't think about letting it cure.

I painted the first few coats the night before, today noticed a little primer showing through at an edge so I decided "one more coat couldn't hurt" :bananadead:

I'll need to install it, and re attempt this weekend. Black grille is coming off and going to the new owner tomorrow.

I could see that. The orange peel may start getting to me eventually. For now though its only cost me a can of primer and a can of paint (plus a little time and frustration  )

Sorry bud. Biffed it. Contamination- my best guess is oil from your hands. You’re going to have to let that cure or at least let it dry all the way and sand it down. 220 wouldn’t be bad but you’ll be spot priming over the repair. Preferably with a high build primer- followed with more sanding and paint. The problem now is that you’re going to have paint on the grill curing at two different windows. Once the repair is done i’d recommend some red scotch brite over the whole thing (including the unaffected paint) followed by a light coat of paint for adhesion (10 minute flash) then a medium coat as the final over everything. This just turned into a multi-day project.
The only reason I can type this with confidence is because I’ve done it too. It still happens to me when I get lazy. It can be fixed, but you have to be patient.

You could just install the grill center portion without the surround while you let it dry and repair it. I’ve done that too.

    Dang...

Haha I should have left it at a one day painting project.

Thank you for the instructions, hopefully I'll have time this weekend.
    @YotaGurlIAm suggested this too

Also @Drainbung , thanks for the advice :fistbump:

Yeah man. It’s definitely a test of your patience. I know the feeling well. I’m currently building a license plate bracket for the second time because it was in a rush while building the first. Had I taken my time I’d be done with it already.

Prep for tomorrow. Gives the flavors time to marinate and get to know each other. It always tastes better the next day.
