DAMN that's way more for the locker than I anticipated. Is it worth the price?

 

I will get you an update after this weekend at jambo, but so far it seems like its really going to make a difference from the few times ive used it around my property so far. Good tires and a locker work wonders for prerunners from what ive read!

The arb allows you to keep your factory auto lsd, run an open diff on the road, and have an on demand locker at the flip of a switch when you need it. Its the best option out there as far as lockers go imo.

 

I'm locked and can assure you it's doubled my capabilities. My truck doesn't have the electronic limited slip that the Sports have, so I don't have 1st hand experience on how well that does (or doesn't) work. I did a PowerTrax locker, only $400, but agree with you that $1k+ would make me think twice.

 

How is the powertrax for DD? If you DD your truck.

 

Awesome thanks! How would something like this evente reliability? As far as having my prerunner as my daily driver?

 

Shouldnt effect reliability at all since the locker is only on whenever you want it on. The diff stays open (just like stock) whenever it is turned off so that you can easily drive it on the road or daily drive it without any problems

Ive been daily driving mine all this week

 

Truck was my daily for about 18 months after installing it. It locks the diff with about 15% throttle. Definitely have to take it easy on the skinny pedal while going around corners, especially right handers. Higher radius corners (left turns, highway onramps) are unaffected unless I really mash on it. In the rain I don't do much more than idle around right turns.

It's a trade off. I chose to save a ton of money in exchange for my street driveability being compromised. If I had an extra $1,500ish laying around would I get the ARB? Hands down yes, there's basically zero compromise with that since it's selectable. Out in the dirt, however, the end result is the same

 

Figured it could get squirrly in turns but I could get used to it. I mean I don’t drive my truck all the time since I have a work truck so it might benefit me more. I like the idea of the selectable locker but that extra $1k isn’t so appealing.

Do you have the No-slip or the lock right?

Have you had the loud bang yet? I heard there is a bang every now and then when the springs reset. Just wondering if you got that too.

 

Once in a while it'll pop when I reverse, don't think it's ever popped going forward.

 

They have upgraded it then. One guy said his was loud as shit and he thought he lost his rear end. Granted that was about 5 years ago and for a 1st gen.

 

Are you re-gearing when you put the locker in because of bigger tires?

 

I'm on 34" tires & could stand to regear if I had another $800 or so laying around. But yes, it's easier to regear while you already have the 3rd member opened up.

Just ordered KYB top hats and OME 887’s. Already have the 5100’s installed in the rear and have the fronts here. Decided to go with the 887’s set at zero rather than use stock coils set at 2”.

@Tommycheckers the locker made a big difference out at jambo this past weekend. The truck is wayyy more capable now. I still got stuck once, but it was whenever i lost my momentum going up a steep muddy hill. I definitely recommend it if you plan on hitting the trails. It saved me several times

 

I regeared because of bigger tires and added weight, and locked it since the third member was already out
