Yeah running the ORI's again. Just posted a photo with them on. Not running them with the reservoir like last time at the moment. Might put them on at a later time.

It’s good to see you’re resurrecting your beast of a truck. When you showed up to our local Santa Barbara meet a while ago, I was pretty taken back seeing your truck in person. Lots of hard work & time put into it.

 

Hey Nate, I was talking to you yesterday on the gram. I havent had time to read through everything, but there's tons of good info on here! You may have said somewhere else, but are you happy with those BAMF towers? I'm looking to get some eventually, and was looking at those or the archive ones.

 

I had the BAMF towers on my last Tacoma. Besides trying to cut out the old ones easily I really liked them. Was nice to have a big shock in there. Probably won't go that route on my new Tacoma but never know.

 

The main reason I want them is to allow for more travel, not necessarily for a bigger diameter shock. The limitations of the current towers mean to get max uptravel, you limit droop, and to maximize droop, you limit uptravel. Just wondering if the Archive towers are providing anything extra, other than being fully assembled.

 

so you can run a 2.5" diameter shock, but I was just refereeing to its nice to be able to run a longer shock (I still ran a 2" diameter shock). I was able to get the full use out of my Dakar leaf springs running this. For me the longer shock actually improved the ride as well less bottoming out and such.

not sure what the Archive towers look like, are they a bolt in or weld in unit? The BAMFs you can order pre-welded together but you still need to weld them to the truck

 

Ah, got it. Most people seem to want a 2.5, so I just assumed, my bad.

They're really pretty similar honestly, one is just a formed, ready to go unit vs weld it yourself.

I liked the BAMF one being disassembled since I used a non-typical shock package so could really adjust the mounting to it

I think the guy was asking about the shock relocation kit though. I know in the BAMF relocation kit thread some ppl have tire rub at full flex with the 2.5” shocks but that depends on wheel and tire combo.

 

I think AccuTune has been messing around with the Tundra application post mount 2.5s on the Tacomas, and they work with a new bumpstop to limit uptravel I think. Otherwise, your shock is your bumpstop. The main point of the new mounts though is the ability to run a more conventional longer shock for more compression and droop.

Yeah. I’m happy with the BAMF towers. They do what I want them to do. The archive ones look sweet too! You can run a 14” shock with those vs 12” with BAMF. Either kit would be a good upgrade

 

Thanks! And welcome back! I poke in here from time to time but noticed you were gone for a good while. You actually crossed my mind the other day when I was hiking Mt Baldy. I saw about 7 Big Horn sheep just hanging out, eating. One was a massive buck. I was super stoked to see them. My gf started crying because how amazing it was. I remember discussing them with you a long time ago.

 

Way cool Nate! The Big Horn sheep population seems to be doing well in the last 10 years. Yeah I got extremely busy. Things are still somewhat crazy for me, but I'm expecting them to calm down. Hope to get out to the wild at least two or three times this year. It's not enough, but it'll have to do. Look forward to your build / pics. Etc.
