It does get annoying. That’s getting fixed this weekend. A certain someone is adding a 3” high flow cat back in after the Y for me. ;)

I’m curious as to how your exhaust doesn’t smell really strong without the cats. What kind of setup do you have?

Airflow snorkel mated to a volant CAI box, Doug thorley long tubes, front AFR sensors are installed in cylinder 3 & 4 primarys on the headers, URD comp y pipe and mbrp can. 2.5" tube all the way and dumps just above/behind the axle instead of out to the side. URD O2 sim inline with rear O2 sensors for the 0420/0430 codes. Nothing special really.

Been running this setup for over a year now and never noticed the rotten egg or strong exhaust odor even with the rear slider open or all 4 windows down. I thought for sure I would notice it with the exhaust dumping at the axle being a short bed. I have a resonator, just haven't installed it yet. My truck is NA.

I have pretty much everything you describe with the exception of the AFR sensors, CAI, and that I have 3" piping. I also have a resonator, which I haven't installed yet. Maybe I have been a little overreactive to the perceived scent of the new exhaust. It definitely doesn't smell like rotten eggs, but it does smell much stronger than it has before. I had the y pipe and catback installed before the headers, and the exhaust odor only was different after the headers were installed. I am curious as to why it smells only after I installed the headers. Does your truck sound like it's hissing? This is a characteristic that only arose after the headers were installed. I get a pretty bad rasp over 2000 RPM, something that I hope will be remedied by the Vibrant resonator.

Could be the ceramic coating reacting with the heat cycles. How long have they been on?

    Hissing? Like an exhaust leak?

Rasp is usually helped with a resonator, or a small muffler directly after the ypipe merge

    I get rasp above 2800rpm.

New exhaust components will go through a burn in phase, especially new gaskets from the heat cycles for a few days or more. That could explain the odd smells you're noticing.

They’ve been on for almost a month and a half. It’s this hissing sound that’s only audible under load at low rpm. Another odd noise is when I rev the engine in neutral, after I let off the gas pedal I get that hiss for a second. It reminds me of a blow off valve on a turbocharged engine

Guess I should give it some more time to break in. I’ll definitely be getting this resonator on soon though, I need to get rid of the rasp

Maybe start a new thread on the exhaust issues and keep this the OVTuned thread?

I’ll take a good look underneath tonight when I get home. I have a video of the revving that I can upload later tonight as well.

:gossip: maybe start a separate thread about it. Some people get peepee about thread derailment.

Especially when they have ants in their pants seeing thread updates but the updates have nothing to do with what OVT is offering.
