hahaha fair enough, same here. Though if I had found this place at your age I don't even know what I'd be doing to support my truck habit...probably giving mouth parties and hand jobs on the subway. I can barely justify the money I spend on this truck now let alone back then, lol.

Luckily I don't pay rent or any bills... for now. So I have extra money to spend.

The day will come where I will though. That's why I'm getting all the expensive stuff out of the way so I won't be tempted in the future - LOL.

    San Fran?

Man driving in that city sucks. I tried parallel parking on Powell and Market St. and I had at least five angry Taxi drivers honking and cursing at me. And I think at least one cable car rang their bell angrily at me.

I'm using the same excuse right now because I have a wedding later this year and then starting a family soon after...It'll be another 20 or so years at least until I can spend freely on my truck again.

Was it Highway 17 that goes up there? I drove to Santa Cruz a couple months ago to pick up some 2nd Gen leaf springs for an unrelated Engineering project, and it was during the Santa Rosa wildfires. Don't know if it was the same smoke, but going up the grade of 17 was rough with the smoke and haze on top of the narrow lanes and impatient people behind me.

My fiancé and I were up in San Jose staying at her aunt's house while we looked at potential Redwood park venues for our wedding in the Santa Cruz mountains...drove the 17 up and down both days, as well as the 9 and the 35....those are some crazy, winding, narrow and steep roads. Even in her aunt's Infinity sports car it was tough keeping up with the momentum people like to drive with on that highway...surprised I didn't see any accidents.

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
    How I built frank basically.

Long travel is new upper and lower control arms 3.5" wider per side. It gives you around 14" of wheel travel with 4x4. There are kits that are even wider that pulp more with custom shocks though.

It just gives you more wheel travel and better ride going fast. Not a cheap endeavor at am though.

Considering you haven't gone offroad once yet...I'd save your money until you know what you want from the truck.

I tinkered with the idea of LT....I rather save that and apply it to a SAS. No point in doing it over after spending that much dough. A lot more money for a SAS of course

Okay, how many threads on lug nuts is acceptable clamping? I have 6 1/4 full turns on the lug nuts. The studs could surely be longer and I'd feel better, but is it really necessary?

upload_2018-5-2_17-16-35.jpgFinished product. I’ll paint the centers in a week or two when I rebalance the tires.

Ah yes Hollister SVRA. I was just talking about what a pain in the ass it is to drive on Highway 17 to get through Santa Cruz.

Reminds me of when I was climbing the Sierra-Nevada from Reno, or whatever mountain range that was. It was about a 14% grade two lane highway. I just bought my new transmission, transfer case, differential, etc and some other stuff for my 4WD conversion. The truck didn’t like carrying all that weight at all.

Everyone was running 70-80 in the left lane while the semi trucks were running only 40 in the truck lane. People were honking at me because I was going so slow - I couldn’t go any faster because of all the weight I had in the back plus the sluggishness of the 3RZ Auto. Spent a good portion of that climb in the truck lane along with the semi trailers and dump trucks with my flashers on.

Mail came. I must be the only idiot who bought aftermarket UCAs before the lift but I couldn’t pass them up for the price since I’d need them anyway. Got a whole cart before the horse thing going here.

Did notice I’m missing (edit) 4 washers:

It’s a sad day. I tried sanding the clear coat down to my beautiful base coat but that clear coat reacted in a way that it was liquefying the paint. Going to have to redo it from scratch.
