    Postponed to 2019

    Florida Meeting Location:
Columbia County I-10 Westbound Rest Area
    Lake City, FL 32055
    https://www.google.com/maps/place/C...146931b6834ead!8m2!3d30.2735508!4d-82.7836796

    Day 1:
Will depart meeting spot by 08:30

First overnight stop will be at the Texas/Louisiana border on I-20.
    https://koa.com/campgrounds/shreveport/

745 miles. We could press on depending how everyone feels.

    Day 2:
    Depart by 09:00
Second overnight I plan on camping outside of Albuquerque.
    http://www.turquoisetrailcampground.com/tent-sites.html
    810 miles.

Can possibly make the trip in 2 days if people are willing to drive 1000 miles each day.

    Day 3:
Final 375 mile jaunt to Moab. Arrive Moab afternoon of 10/17/2018.

    Days 4-7:
    10/18 - 10/21
    Play time in Moab.

    Day 7:
Afternoon departure from Moab and head toward Ouray, CO (150 miles)

    Days 8-10:
    10/22 - 10/24
Work east through the Colorado passes and Alpine Loop.

    Days 11-13:
    Head home.

I am planning on approximately $1200 in gas for the trip and I will be hammock or truck sleeping on the way out and on the way home. I will refresh my cooler stock as needed along the way but am planning on non-perishable foods for the duration.

Strongly recommend bringing some spare parts such as spindles, u-joints, and cv axles.

The family has been looking to do a trip out west this year, and I wouldn't want to tackle the MOAB alone. We were contemplating Big Bend, however the MOAB is on the bucket list, and would be amazing. Would you consider this to be a family friendly encouraged adventure, or a bunch of dudes looking to cut up? Your proposed trip would add 8 states to our family adventures.

If you need anything while you’re out here don’t hesitate to hit me up, I’m halfway between Moab and the Alpine Loop. If it’s okay maybe I’ll join you for a days adventure.

This one is probably going to be just a bunch of dudes given that we are planning on 10-12 hours each day in the trucks. I’ve attempted the long hauls with my kids and it doesn’t work out so well.

Looking through the Moab Forum to get some ideas on what to expect/bring. From a comms standpoint, I have my CB (still have to replace my antenna wire @Timbo's Customs ) but that is simple enough. I also picked up a Boaefeng UV-5RTP, though I haven't gotten my license yet. I was looking at the radios sold by Rugged, and their handhelds appear to be re-branded Boaefeng UV-5Rs, so I'm thinking that should be sufficient. I might grab a magnetic mount antenna for it though...

I will not able to go this year. My vacation got revoked for those dates.

Gonna have to move this to next year most likely.
