I was a venture scout when my troop first started a group . We had girl members, nobody really cared.

    OK, I'm officially leaving now.

    Thank you!

I don't know that it will. I'm saying that I'm all for it as long as standards don't drop. It just seems to be the way things are going, everyone wants everything to be easy and accommodating. If it's hard then it's not inclusive enough.

Attorneys, PhD Educators and Sociologist say other wise. So did every sample group tested.

Remember- there will be parallel programs.

No standard changes. Our challenge will be to get female adult leaders.

They already have the infrastructure anyways like you said. Womens bathrooms at camps, women can be adult leaders, etc.

Probably stems from Girl Scouts being a can of suck compared to the infrastructure of Boy Scouts and females wanting to participate. Girl Scouts to me has and always will be a marketing scam driven by cookie sales in comparison to what BSA offers. They also don’t have the retention given that many girls hit the ends of the arts/crafts/general skills steps and don’t want to go into the outdoorsy stuff or just move on to other things.

Meanwhile Boy Scouts get to sell shitty popcorn.

It's been that way in the Navy as long as I've been in, which is 7 years. Women aren't physically as strong as men (obviously there are exceptions to this) so there's separate standards for men and women, and it's even broken up by age group. Makes sense to me to not hold an 18 year old man to the same standard as a 30 year old woman.

Edit: Not that this is an any way applicable to the OP. Just thought I'd point out some misinformation.

I did recruiting for my pack at one of our elementary schools here in SC last year. I had seven parents ask if they could register their daughter in Cub scouts!

Girl Scouts were nowhere to be found.

I was a girl scout for about two weeks...then quit because I was bored. I wanted to go on campouts and learn to make a fire and be outside. All the troop I was in did was sing songs, make bracelets and sell cookies. Booooorrrrrriing!
I think I would have preferred to be in the boy scouts if that had been an option at the time

I’m seeing this as a rebirth of the scouts. I think there will be a gain in popularity with this change. Girl Scouts will be able to do the things that they don’t get to do now. I think it will be a work in progress for a bit though.

Glad I got my Eagle and got out! Kinda called the "Boy Scouts" for a reason. Pretty sure that's why they made the Girl Scouts. Just my 2 cents

Then again, my Conservative views don't really sit well with this society. :notsure:

Not in anyway related, but this is the off topic forum so might as well drag this thread off topic more. Military jobs need to have physical standards based on job sets/requirements, not sex. Especially with females being introduced into combat branches.

LOL, I can't escape this thread. :ballchain:

My sister was a girl scout for a year when I was a boy scout before she quit. I always thought her meeting nights sounded really boring, and a lot like my home eq class. Very similar to what you describe.

I think after a brief period of time where people on both sides lose their respective shit, this can and will be a good thing. Leadership development is the end goal of these programs, and the world needs as many good leaders as it can get.

I can agree, to an extent. I think there should be the minimum physical standards that everyone is kept to, but those with more strenuous jobs could have an extra test, directly related to what they do. I work in IT, and even with standards how they are we have enough fatties walking around. I wouldn't want that to get any worse.
