Did I mention I was a total noob when it comes to wiring and lights?

My new LED lights came today but I noticed there's no wiring harness for them in the packaging...I guess I naively thought they'd come with all that since my Hellas did that I bought a couple years ago.

My question then I guess is this...can I reuse the wiring harness that's already installed in my truck to run these LEDs, if I just remove the halogen Hellas and splice the LED lights into it? Or do I need to get a harness specifically meant for these LED's?

Last thing I want is to end up on the side of the road with my truck on fire because I improperly wired my new lights, so even if the answer is obvious I'd rather ask and look dumb lol :help:

I sold my old 15" Toyota Alloy wheels and tires to a guy with a bright red Ford Ranger 4x4. I thought he was crazy.

Going by memory, but didn't you sand the metal with 1000 grit? It will be hard to get paint to stick to that smooth of a surface. Try 200-400.

You should be able to use the Hella harness. The Hella harness hould be even better since (I presume) it has a relay. When I swapped my KC halogen lights with KC LED lights, the harnesses were identical in exception of the KC halogen light harness already having a relay and the KC LED light harness having no relay. I just plugged the LED lights into the Halogen harness and it all works fine.

    Highest I go is 400 grit. I believe I went DA Sander 120 > DA Sander 180 > Wet Sand 400 Grit.

The metal sure does look like it was sanded with 1000 grit before I hit it with Primer though.

Awesome, that's what I was hoping. Yeah, the Hella harness has a relay.

Only problem is...the Hellas haven't worked since about a month after they were installed. Well...one of them stopped working then the other quit about 6 months later. I can't figure it out, and neither could a couple other guys I had look at it so I almost wonder if this harness is bad. Everyone I've had look at it says it's probably a bad ground but after trying out different spots they still don't work. So who knows...maybe it's the lights themselves. Guess we'll find out when I put the LEDs in.

What Hella lights were they? I'll take a look at the wiring schematic and tell you where to look for short. Could be a short-to-ground somewhere where the cable insulation wore off.

It got me to Fresno on Monday, 200 miles. Gotta Finnish out the week for work and then come back next week. On the way down I averaged 79 mph. And used 9 gals of fuel. Not to bad

I was so surprised to see my 5-Lug had the v6 in it. Toyota stopped putting the 5VZ in 5-lugs in around 97/98 I believe. I'm always on Craigslist and Copart and 99% of the 5-Lugs I see are all incredibly high mileage 2RZ's.
