Our cub pack recycles uniforms, and didn't push the uniform except for the required uniform inspection once a year. In fact we kicked/highly encouraged a leader to leave our pack because they wouldn't stop hounding kids about their uniforms.

exactly. Same institutions for decades, things get stale and people loose interest. Shake things up a bit and see where things go

so no TW wheeling / girl scout camp for them either :D

yeah, it definitely depends a lot on the leaders. And where you're at - here in MT were surrounded by amazing, safe places to camp and hike and fish and learn about the outdoors yet some groups never leave the city - maybe an afternoon outings to a local park at most. Kinda sad.

And I don't think we'll be hearing about any overnight coed campout anytime soon
 concise, not political....you have a way with words sir!

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy_Scouts_of_America

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA, starting February 2019, Scouts BSA)[3] is one of the largest Scouting organizations in the United States of America and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with more than 2.4 million youth participants and nearly one million adult volunteers.[4] The BSA was founded in 1910, and since then, more than 110 million Americans have been participants in BSA programs at some time.[5] The BSA is part of the international Scout Movement and became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.

I’m all for integration and acceptance, this is America after all.

But It’s just not the same. I was in cub scouts as a tiger and went all the way to Eagle Scouts. There was something about going to scouts and hanging out with the guys. Something about going hiking and camping and being with the guys. You could talk how you wanted, guys were sharing tents at summer camp having bro talk/time. Many a time I’ve had to change clothes in the bushes or run across a campground in my underwear.

Now you gotta watch what you say to not offend the ladies. You gotta make sure you’re not about to flash the ladies as you haul ass back to your tent naked cause you dropped your clean underwear in the dirt. And don’t get me wrong, teenagers will find a way no matter what, but I guarantee you’re gonna have guys and girls sneaking into each other’s tents at night, scoutmasters aren’t everywhere at every time. Be interesting to see how BSA handles the first time time there’s sexual harassment/battery allegations between scouts.

I know what you meant.

We had a lot of former Scouts (plus CAP / JROTC members) that pursue higher leader development because of these experiences they had earlier in life. The ones I have kept in touch with are doing great things for their country and their communities. Moral of the story is these programs are important.

There has always been a different standard for women and men in basic training and the PT however, for combat roles, the standard is equal.

“The Marines recently began imposing gender neutral physical requirements for specific jobs, a move designed to moot concerns that physical standards will suffer as women integrate into combat units. Men and women in combat arms career fields must meet the exact same benchmarks.”

Definitely expensive. We are stopping because he only really likes it because some of his friends are there. He does nothing with his badges/awards, and chose to go to his basketball game instead of the derby this year.

We’ve had unmotivated leaders to this point, and the motivated ones are tired of doing everything, so it’s only going to get worse.

My supervisor is a leader in a different troop, and constantly tells me to go lead. But with the hours I work at times, I wouldn’t be able to be 100% committed, and the kids would suffer as a result. He gets that, as he consistently tells me how much time he doesn’t have as a result.

But now a days what you say when talking with the boys comes back to bite you in the ass later anyways.
Leaders already have youth protection training, and I'm sure the BSA lawyers have worked this stuff out. That being said, something will happen, but stuff happens elsewhere already.

:facepalm:Again- nothing in your first paragraph is changing!

Middle/High School age boys and girls will not be camping together. They will not be meeting together, and they will not be in the same Troops together.

Yes- and Youth Protection training has been completely re-done. Every adult leader is required to complete the new version no later than October 1.

How is it really integration if they’re not going to be camping or meeting together?
