so heres an Ar-15 user question. Are you rough on your AR or gentle? meaning when you charge the weapon do you gently slide open the charging handle and pull back gently or do you quickly unlatch that sucker pull back and release? From the limited training we had in the Air Force the AR instructors always were not gentle on their weapons and they never had any problems with Fail to feed or fail to fires unless it was bad ammo.

Being gentle on the charging handle can cause failure to feed or not going fully into battery. Grip it and rip it man!

Never gentle unless you’re trying to be quiet (hunting, for example).

Anyone have suggestions on super light handgurds, looking to switch mine out on my SBR, its still to heavy. I was looking at having a custom 8.5in carbon fiber one made for me but am I willing to spend another $300 on a $1600+ rifle...

My wife is having trouble with this...lol Ive told her this numerous times, today she goes to shoot behind the house and text me, the gun isnt working right, it just clicks when I charge it. She does know how to use it but I think she forgets to NOT be gentle with an AR...so this evening when I get home I loaded mag, jammed the charging handle back and ripped a full mag, then put another full mag through it...works fine as it should, not one issue other than running out of ammo. I tell her theres nothing wrong with the gun, she gets mad because "i knew you were going to say that"

MaTech is what I have also. Great little site and I also can bust a similar steel target at 450yds with it.

This is a Stealth Arms 1911 80% build. I haven't even started to work on it. Too many irons in the fire right now

This will be a 300 BLK pistol until the SBR tax stamp comes back(I'll throw an Omega 300 can on it). Will be the same stuff with the exception it's an 8.3" barrel. The top one is a budget version I built for a buddy.

This is my favorite AR. Aero Precision M4E1 lower, AP M4E1 upper, BA 223 Wylde barrel, AP BCG, VG6 Gamma muzzle break, Elftmann 3-gun trigger, Vortex optics, Magpul grip/stock, AP LPK.987cb37e283fe925c519821c044be27c.jpg

AR is no different than any semi auto. Pull the trigger, bang!. Just that quick, next round is up. You can pull back the bolt as slowly as you want, but then just let it go to battery.

You can be gentle if you have a forward assist to cut down on noise. Otherwise, it's a tool that needs to be treated as such.

Have you checked out the BCM aluminum hand guards? I have them on my 300 BLK SBR and really like them.

Have you looked at SLR? Lots of different lengths and styles. I have two of them. Lancer also makes some CF units - https://lancer-systems.com/awc/carbon-fiber-handguards/

I concur on SLR Rifleworks. I have the standard model and it is insanely light weight. I can't imagine what their lite models weigh.

Anyone have any experience with a Sig 516? I am new to the AR world and am looking at buying my first rifle soon. I'd like to get a decent, but not super expensive rifle. I was steered in the direction of either Sig or Daniel Defense for the $1-2k price range
