We do a lot of work for state agencies, and there are consultants who go back and forth from private consulting and agency. Agency pay is worse for someone with the same quals and experience.

Apparently, people do it for the pensions.

 

I checked for em in store and didn’t see any other than the big 20gun one. I’ll keep an eye out though!

I had an in Wall safe at my last house. May do that again here and cover it with a picture. Just seeing what else people might recommend.

Here’s the 17. I’d still need to shave down the trigger guard and find a shop to stipple, but that’s future work. My buddy can do it with his laser engraver but he’s been busy. When that happens it’ll get a new slide and a RMR.

No rush on this one until next year when I renew my license. Sac County isn’t doing any mods right now.

I’d never buy consumer grade biometric anything.

Maybe technology has advanced significantly since I poked around last, but even industrial biometric systems are problematic.

Quick safe all day long IMO. I love mine from American Standard.

i would also never trust biometric myself, but that’s just me.

Most concealment furniture locks, to keep children out, but I don’t know how sturdy it is. Maybe a burglar could rip the shelf off the wall and smash it to bits to get the treasure inside, if he knew it was more than just a shelf lol

I'm only here for the paid time off, the pension is ok if you put 30 to 40 yrs in, the medical benefits are good now but they keep going up so that will someday be worthless, But the main reason I went to work for the state is peace of mind. No commute, work is easy, No breaking my back, stress free. for the most part anyway.
Was out fishing yesterday on a paid floating holiday.
Don't get those as a commercial electrician in the private sector.

I get two floating holidays per year now, in the private sector. Different industry, but still similar to the PDD days that are handed out like candy.

 

Im in the process of getting a leap certification. Then i will start applying with the state. Cant wait. I want out of my job

 

I get 2 PDD days but they were holidays that we traded for them. They don't hand them out like candy.lol
we also went through furlough days if you remember that's a day or 2 off with no pay. I heard they went to 3 a mth at one point.
I know that everyone thinks the pay is really good with the State but its not the case in most positions. Upper positions and in politics sure. But the working class Not SO MUCH.

 

Definitely remember furloughs. My mom, other family members, and quite a few friends work for the state. Friends keep trying to get me to come over, but I've got a good thing right now, so I'm just riding the wave.

defiantly wait until at least your close to 40 you want to get your 20 yrs in to get the best of the bennies but other then that, its not worth it if your making good money with good bennies close to home like you are.
I would of stayed private sector if there was more work closer to home, but every job they handed me I passed 3 other jobs we were doing to get there. for the last 3 yrs private sector I was driving at least 1hr each way up to 3 to 4 in bad traffic.
spent 18ths in Fremont, 12 mths in cache creek.
at that point I had enough.
