So you think the capability of the dmz kit is wasted with a shock less than 14"?

I wonder if I could fit 14" shocks in the wheel well with bamf towers and custom lower mount?

It will put the mount way too low. A custom shock hoop can get lower mounts to sit about 1 inch below the bottom of the leaf pack. A bamf mount isn't close to tall enough. To get 14's in and keep them under the bed the shock will practically be touching the top of your fender well.

Dmz kit with a 12" shock will be better than the defined kit with a 12" shock, but why limit the rear when you're already spending Atleast 3k on the dmz kit and install. But eoter way I'd run the defined, TC, or dmz kit with a minimum 14" shock

So if I don't wanna cut into the bed, the TC kit is prob the better choice? I see it uses all the oem mounting locations but you could grt more travel with the bamf towers and a 12" shock.

I don't plan to ever go LT so the dmz kit may be more than I need.

    Thanks for all the advice.

While we're on the topic of spring under axle, I've seen setups where the shackle is inverted and others where it is not. What's the difference? Are there benefits to each way?

    *Edit*
After searching around I've seen guys running long shackles (9 or 12") through the frame. That frees up a lot of travel I guess. Makes me wonder why the DMZ kit uses a inverted type shackle.

I have the tc kit with bamf relocation and 12s. If you NEVER plan to LT, even a 2+ kit then this kit is solid. I have a 3.5 kit up front and can’t wait to get this kit off. Going from 12 to 17 inches of travel is gonna be a beauty to my ride!

Just curious but why not the 2+ kit with this set up?

Eh you can but it comes down to what your driving style is. Some guys get +2 to retain their profile for tight trails and have little interest to go all out. Others that want a more wide open style, I would recommend a full LT set up as the rear will be flopping around compared to the front if you are faster than 25 mph on considerable terrain with roots, small rocks, etc.

I know you can run TC with stock shock location. Can you with DMZ? If all things being about same price for DMZ and TC SUA was thinking of doing DMZ for my MT build knowing my rear is limited by shock length. Then if and when I go LT upfront I can get longer rear shocks to compliment new found travel in front.

I know someone said wasting $ on DMZ kit if just going MT but I think of it as only cruising low boost and when you build your motor cranking up the boost.

It doesn't hurt to go DMZ by any means as the kit has a lot more capability than the MT SUA, but remember it was designed to be used with 16s. If I were you, I would call Tim at DMZ and get is opinion before pulling the trigger.

Originally I wanted to be "el cheapo" and install the DMZ kit with my relocated BAMF 12" kings. Tim advised that the kit likely wouldn't function as good as it was originally designed, I would assume it might be similar for you.

Is it possible to run 14" bypass with the TC kit?

Im sure you could like most suspension set ups...Don't know if you would pull any more than 12 inches in travel though.

Edit: this woukd be with hoops undwr the bed.

You can run 14” shocks but they do hang fairly low, a little lower than the leaf springs. You can pull full travel from the kit using 12” bypasses. I personally think you’ll get a cleaner install with 12’s.

This is a DMZ kit with 14” bypasses under the bed. This is the total chaos Morocco rally truck. This gives you a good idea of where your lower shock mounts will end up. You could get creative with your rod end on the shocks and get the overall length a little shorter.

Also interested in that TC setup with 12" shock. Any updates?
