Go for it lol. Everyone has to stand up for what they believe in!
I'm just speaking from 38 years of owning new vehicles. After awhile, you get a feel of how it works. Which, is why I bought mudflaps before I drove the truck off the lot.

Here's the thing... for the last several vehicles, the sales guy and usually a tech walks me around a vehicle looking for things like scratches and misalignment issues. They even point them out if I don't see them.

Sure will. As you can tell I'm not one to back down.

I have mud flaps and running boards for this exact reason also.

Not sure how you would identify future paint wear from a slightly misaligned door though. Maybe your sales rep can tell me what Lotto numbers to play too.

    Glad you saw my point.

I am not big on taking my vehicle to the dealer, unless is something monumental. Dealers do not give me a warm and fuzzy.

You kinda sound like the type of guy who calls over a waitress to berate her for forgetting that you wanted your mashed potatoes on a separate plate.

Did I not specifically ask for French fries???

That's besides the point. Let's get back to what matters at Tacomaworld. Does anyone know the biggest tires I can fit on a stock Tacoma. Can add light bars and or plastidip if needed.

I see rock chips. It's likely defective paint or some kind of panel alignment issue. Hard edges like that are prone to rock chips. If it's not a manufacturer defect I'd have it professionally touched up and cover those areas with 3M clear bra.

Well I have No kids and no dog, so that rules out both of those options of chain dragging or such. I rarely Get into the back doors, so they are rarely opened and I have Never drug anything across that area, which I think would be hard to do anyways. They pickup does have factory mud flaps but no running boards. The chips are also up the side of the bed some and there are chips on the passanger side as well, they aren’t as bad as the drivers side, and the bed isn’t beat up like the drivers side either.
The first picture is the bed on the drivers side and the second picture is the door well on the passenger side

Do you have any mods like aftermarket wheels or tires or wheel spacers? Lifted? Like I said, i am on dirt and gravel roads a lot and don't have nearly the chips you do. I was on a 75 mile dirt and gravel road on Sunday lol. Nothing that looks like yours.

Get a camera (GoPro) attached to the area above the damaged portion and drive again over the dirt road and other roads that you normally drive on. Check video. Genius!.
Fix it. Get running boards, that's what they are for.

    Not enough to list
I have 24k on my truck and have been probably 200 miles on fire roads and heavy gravel stuff. I had a couple nicks in the lower door that I fixed but NO marks on the edges of my front or rear doors. Strange. I just installed sliders with top plates and hope that totally stops it.

No sir, haven’t changed wheels or tires. Only external mods I have done are a roof rack and window visors.

Lets see how long Toyota can keep living off its pre 90 reputation.

The chips are only in the elbows of the back doors, there aren’t any in the front door elbows. I have plans to get sliders, but was hoping to fix the problem before putting on sliders and such.

You are correct sir, the fender flair has a lot of tiny nicks from what looks like rocks and such, and like I said I havent Taken it but a couple miles on a gravel road once. So my only thoughts are the gravel they put on the road during the winter that could cause it. Just crazy that in a short amount of time it could take all that paint off and such.

I have mud flaps, full running boards, and the dealer put on those 3M clear film paint protection strips and I still have 2 good sized rock gauges in my rear flare. 10,000 miles on the truck, 1.5 years old. Some of it is just unpreventable.

I also live in an area where we get months of salt, cinders and small gravel on our roads and my truck looks fine. Good luck with the dealer.
The only thing I can think, after reading your posts, is that, if the bottom corner of the door is misaligned and "sunk in" a bit, then those small gravels are hitting the bottom of your door and deflecting back to your damaged area with a concentration on the door opening corner.
