Coolant leak

Found where my coolant has been going. Hopefully I will get the truck back soon. I have to work out of town on Saturday

 

Looks like just a hose hopefully? How many miles do you have on your truck? Engine bay looks pretty clean besides the pink, lol.

 

Just put a hose clamp on it,one you can tighten. The stock ones are junk.

 

Appears the clamp was never unlocked at assembly. New clamps come locked in the open position for assembly and once the hose is installed the tab is shifted to clamp hose. Surprised hose did not come off..

Worm gear clamps are great on metal, but like shirttucker I have seen numerous failures when they are used on plastic.

 

When I checked the oil level I noticed that the coolant reservoir was low. I had not seen any abnormal temps.

 

I didn’t notice that! Just took it to the dealer. Sure glad it didn’t come off 300 miles from home in the middle of no where.

 

Around 18500.

 

If you don't crank on it like the hulk it won't crack lol

 

I need to do some digging around in there myself. I was about 25 oz low (I used an empty water bottle/funnel to get it back to the fill line) but that's after 25k miles so hopefully it was just slow / expected evaporation or something.

 

Dealer called they said the hose was fine and the clamp didn’t function as intended from the factory! You guys are too good at spotting stuff!

They are going to bring it back later to put a new belt on because the coolant was dripping on the belt as well.

It is nice to have a dealer that just gets stuff done.

I don't think that hose would be part of assembly at either place, probably a step back at engine assembly

 

Pretty sure mine was mexico. I checked the coolant level, and it is still low . Need to make a trip again and actually have them top top it off this time!

 

Yeap unlock it and your leak would have stopped.
