Going to call Los Padres forest service today and see if I can actually get word on whether or not MJT is open again...website says it's closed but hasn't been updated since April 1st. I know that's kind of a trek for you and anyone else out that way though. But it'd be nice to hit that up for a change of scenery, otherwise probably Big Bear since it's supposed to get hot as balls this weekend

Ill probably "work" from home tomorrow.
I just need to route and zip tie the power cable extension harness and then put some ring/eye terminals on the harness that came with the compressor.

The ring/eye terminals will show up tomorrow from Amazon.

I've got a gnarly dull 'thunk' in my front end since Mojave, not sure what it is but hopefully it doesn't become overly apparent out on the trail this weekend...

Checked the LBJs (1st gen life...), brake calipers since we just did them about a month ago, CV axles...all looks good. Can't really make anything of it. It most happens after letting off the clutch and giving gas so it makes me thing something is loose and seeing movement from the sudden shift in acceleration. Might have to take a torque wrench to my LCA bolts again.

Did that right before Mojave, greased up everything real good. Guess it can't hurt to do it again and make sure the joints are full, or maybe I missed a zerk. Sounds more like it's isolated to the passenger side though.

Mark the bolts after you torque them. Makes it much easier to check everything after a trip.

Nah. I've heard you sell part of your soul if you put makeup on your truck. Next come nerfbars, chrome exhaust tips, and grill-guards.

can you tell if its in the front end or rear end? My truck (2nd gen) made a thunk noise on acceleration from a dead stop, turned out to be the broken weld from the motor mount to the frame.....(early 2nd gen problems :anonymous:) hahaha

you know what...I was a little worried about that. Because lately on trails, not only do I hear the dull ' thunk' but going downhill over ruts and what not, I hear this heavy creaking like something big is moving that shouldn't be moving. I thought it was probably my exhaust, which I'm getting cut/rerouted tomorrow...but I'll check my mounts too. It's definitely not anything in or on the truck gear-wise, it's something underneath.

Just blew $90 in gift cards at Harbor Freight on my lunch break....accessory set for my new impact driver, sledgehammer, shitload more zip ties and a Hercules 4.5" angle grinder. Not bad.

Miller Jeep Trail this Saturday if you want to join in, @oni06 may be in as well.

4x4 required...rear locker advisable and at least some armor (IFS skid and sliders) recommended.

Should also mention that we take Lockwood Creek to get to MJT...which is arguably the tougher trail and it's the longest part. MJT itself is really short and sweet. All in all probably a 3 - 4 hour trail give or take how many beer breaks happen in-between.

Well main drive shaft ujoints greased. The old grease was blacker than @dtaco06 soul so it's never been greased in 75k miles.

Have to drop the skids to get the front shaft .

    I hate dropping the skids.
