Overland Expo WEST 2018 - Flagstaff, AZ - May 18th-20th

Well, when I was talking to John earlier, there was still no definitive place. Worst case was with the Turtles.

There are lots of places to camp west of there. Edge of the world will be ridiculous, but I've always been fond of Turkey Butte

I'll arrive in the area on the 17th and be there until the 22nd. Born and raised in AZ but left some 16 years ago. I'm pretty sure that I still have sunburn from that place.

I was thinking of camping at least partly around Mund's Park (as I did two years ago) mostly for the memories...of freezing my ass off in 60 mph winds and wondering if the controlled burn around me would stay controlled. I have the Arizona FunTreks book and looks like a lot of interesting places to explore and camp near Sedona, which makes sense, I guess. I'd love to meetup with some fellow TW members, in any case...I have beer, beard, flannel, and funs.

 

Sounds good. We will all be around and atleast the aztw crowd all kinda stick together and know what's going on. Feel free to pm any questions or if you want to meet up I can introduce you around, show you campsites and do the behind the scenes stuff not many people know of. Although I'm still in the air about attending but realistically I know I'm going. Haha

Will be camping on site. Any AZTW members feel free to stop by the campsite for beers. It will be a MGM 2nd gen dcsb along with a red 5th gen 4runner.
Just cannot wait to get out of the Phoenix area again for a little while.

 

Only downside is the fire restrictions in place. Really sucks

 

Forgot about that, it does suck but as long as I can use the propane grill for some burgers and steaks I am good. Hopefully will be able to snag some more elk burgers for the trip.

 

That shouldn't beca problem with gas grills. I just want my campfire

 

Couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately (without being racist) there is a certain group of people from the south of az that take out 10+ people don't know how to read signs and don't care which 9 out of 10 times make these wild fires. Plus leave garbage everywhere

 

Camping without Fire isn't as fun.

But camping without Forest is worse, way way worse.

 

Just bought my tickets for the Friday pass.

 

I love you guys. I'm just lazy and want to stay in one place and be able to walk over to the displays and events. We will likely be running a propane smoker every day, so we'll need to be close to monitor that.

Come by for a beer, though. I'm sure you'll need a break so you can pee on my truck again
