Any of you land a Snakehead from a fly rod? I'm going after them this weekend and wanted to bring my fly rod just in case I see a likely target. I was thinking of using either a minnow imitation or possibly a spoon fly, but anything used for bass fishing should be good too. I'm also wondering how big to go with my leader on these toothy bastards.

15lb leader minimum so you can pull them out of the weeds and so you can undo wind knots easier...plus they have teeth

Stripers are about the only thing I fish for anymore! Not much else pulls like they do around here!

Fall/Winter ride around the lake looking for schools busting topwater and then Spring/Summer chase them in the rivers!

10lb’er from a dock light the other night...

Never tried eating one though... Heard they are pretty good once you get the bloodline out. But I’ll stick to grouper haha!

Here is an article I just googled about filleting and removing the bloodline.

Here are this fish I caught on my trip to Montana on the Madison River. The first one was caught on a purple psycho at Valley Gardens. The next two were on a guided float trip from Windy Point to Stoney Ditch. The last one was on the Ruby River one a black and silver zebra midge bead head.

I have, I only live about 50 minutes from there. I usually fish there a couple times a month from April-June or July. I also fish a lot of the small tributaries to it

Yep. I fished out of one all last year in creeks, rivers, lakes, and the marsh. I sold it to a friend to try out the Jackson Kayak Liska which is smaller and lighter and just as stable. Unsure which one I am going to be fishing next year, but I will have a Mayfly or a Liska. They both have wide open decks for fly fishing. Of course, the Mayfly is designed specifically for fly fishing, so it is the ultimate fly fishing kayak from Jackson. That said, the Jackson Kilroy is also a good fly fishing platform for those that like a sit-inside model.

Here are shots of the Mayfly: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ericatkins/sets/72157678036808832

Full disclosure: I am on the JK fishing team, so I am biased, but knowledgable about their fishing lineup.
