Just ordered an SOS front skid. Debating on whether or not to order the rest while I’m down here or if I even need them in reality.

    Do it!

Its a peace of mind thing. You have to be in some areas where you would need them in Alaska.

 If it makes you feel any better, I have friends that are bammers. We always plan a football weekend together. Last year we rented a house on lake Tuscaloosa for the Bama vs I don't even remember. We'll be in God's country this year :D
Even have a buddy that's a coaling police officer.

I might do them, but in aluminum to save weight. I’ve never bashed the bottom of my truck on anything yet, prefer to take it a little slower and find a good line instead of just sending it. Aluminum would save 50lbs and provide enough protection in most cases, anything it won’t save me from I probably deserved for being an idiot.

Alaska doesn’t have that much for extreme off-roading. Most of the state is so remote you need a boat, atv or plane to get there. Tons of muskeg swamp on top of permafrost that will just swallow a truck. I get out to the middle of nowhere on my snowmobile in winter or atv in the summer.

I have seen several aluminum skids crack from impact and wouldn't want that to be the way I save 50 lbs. That being said, the east/southeast is very rocky and folks slam on their skids picking the best lines while crawling.

Aluminum would be fine if the atv/snowmobile is the main form of transport in rough areas though.

I want to go to Alaska

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
Yeah one of those north alabama guys has a turbo, makes kydex holsters, and has a cooking channel on youtube... It would take a lot to match that
