Long Travel BS Thread

So would I be correct in assuming that the front is 66"ish as well???

 

Been talking to this guy on Tacoma world he has a 5lug too with your guys kit and defined engineering rear end he said its bolts right in

so shouldn’t your kit work to as well ?

Nothing. The defined kit is a bolt on spring pack with a longer shackle. After some research I determined that the hanger to hanger measurements are the same as a six lug truck. And, since the 5 lug is SUA from the factory it bolted right up to the axle. I did play around with the carrier bearing to get a better driveline angle, and moved the bearing forward. I should have a 2 peice driveshaft built to take a little load off the bearing, but eventually I will switch to the dmz kit, then have the drive shaft done. I've driven the truck 25k miles or so and the bearing is still ok.

My current set up works, no problems, but its known that the defined kit is on the lesser performing side of the available long travel kits. I'm not sure he even sells them anymore.”

 

so shouldn't this kit work just fine on my truck?

That is the TC kit I believe. If you notice, there are no offsets in the hangers to make the leafs wider than stock width...so you will only pull 12ish max with relocation. The problem is you simply need to widen the distance between the front and rear hangers to house a wider leaf in order to obtain a greater travel capability. This is the kit that I currently have on mine and it is def a mid travel kit BTW, going to DMZ so I can be full LT.

Ha I wish that was me...nope I have all the parts chillin in my room waiting for their day. In a month from now it will be getting installed.

 

Besides burning on the spring perches, its bolt on for the most part.

 

If the defined kit bolts in, then the TC will as well. Last I heard mike from defined worked for TC

 

I would ask this guy...he is likely way more familiar than me since I am a six lug. Im sure if you called up Pat at TC though he could verify for sure.

 

ya he worked their and left to make his own stuff only thing is that the defined kit bucks a lot because when it goes into the up travel the leaf cant really move like they want to, because of still using the stock location.

 

Tc is the same. The parts are interchangeable between the kits.

 

i emailed pat and got nothing ? it suck man all i want is some nice new leaf spring that bolt in but no one make anything for the 5lug FML.

 

Just call them mom-Thur you’ve got a 95% chance Pat will be the one answering the phone

 

TC discontinued their 5lug stuff because nobody bought it.

 

all i have right now is OEM leafs with icon add leaf and it ok just want something different.

 

This...as they are closed on Fridays. I have called TC over the past few years, and I have yet to talk to anyone else but Pat. Its much easier to coordinate what you want to do on the phone instead of a drawn out email chain anyway.
