I don't mean to sound like a dick but if you wheel you need to maintain the thing. Driving on torn CV's and leaving mud on or in mechanical components isn't doing any favors. That shit is like sandpaper and will tear up your running gear. You need to wash out your under carriage every time you go axle deep on mud, that's like wheeling 101.

    “Destroyed a little harsh”???

    That’s exactly what happened!!!!

Brakes got destroyed due to mud/dirt build up.

“OP got the shit end of the stick”???

No. OP reaped what he sowed!

Gotta PAY to play. Especially, if you dont do proper maintenance.

There is no one else to blame, but OP (for his brakes failing). Not Toyota, not the dealer, not the mud, etc.

I think the procedure is to ignore them until your tire comes off on the highway, and then go to the dealership and ask for warranty work.

There's a difference between a truck that can wheel and a platform specifically designed to. And the JK suffers from a problem that the Tacoma doesn't, it's built by Chrysler.

I'm pretty sure there's a line in the owner's manual that goes something like "not for off road use".

On the other hand, back in 1997 my dad managed to grenade one of the rear drum brakes in his two month old GMC Yukon while pulling up a boat ramp at a marina. I'm not sure if the wheel cylinder blew out or the parking brake mechanism locked up, but when he tried to pull up the ramp the truck wouldn't move forward so he gave it some gas and then we heard a loud bang. Being that it was the final day of vacation and he had to work the next day, he drove 5 hours from NH to NY with partial brakes and a few extra bottles of brake fluid. Thankfully the boat trailer had brakes so he made it home without issue.

Can we change the title of the Thread to:
Warranty issues / How do I change a CV? / Some guy trolling about crappy jeeps being better than Tacomas / What pressure washer should I buy?

    Did I miss anything?
