Is there any way to disable the auto door locks?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if there is a way to disable the doors from auto locking after you unlock them but don't open a door.

I have a dynolock tailgate lock. I'll walk up to the truck needing to load something in the bed, so I'll unlock to doors (so that the dynolock unlocks) and then I'll throw the keys back in my pocket and start to load the bed. Less than a minute later, the doors (including the tailgate) re-lock themselves because I haven't opened a door yet.

It's not really that big of a deal to grab the keys out of my pocket and unlock the truck again, and I see how this feature would usually be extremely useful (like if you accidentally unlock the truck while its in your driveway, it will lock itsself back up). I really have no need for this feature though, so is here any way to shut the auto-lock off?

I have this also, but thought it was part of my alarm and not the truck

 

There's a reason the truck has this feature--It's so if some "stray" radio signal other than your key fob unlocks your doors they'll lock again. Then again I've never seen this happen in the 20 yrs I've had vehicles with remote locks...

You can actually open or close any of the doors. But it is kind of hard to do this while I'm holding whatever it is I need to load into the bed.



So we've established that there is a way to do it, since bruinsrme's stopped working...

 

I remember reading in the owners manual that you can set the delay time for it too re-lock but I don't remember the specifics

 

No kidding? Going to get my manual now. Hopefully I can set it for 5 minutes or so.

 

Found on page 33 that it re-locks after 30 seconds but it does not mention anything about changing the interval or disabling it.

 

Damn... looks like ill just have to open and close the door too.

I actually have done this once. I had an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm on a Chevy Beretta in 1997. I was with a friend at Montgomery Wards getting his brakes fixed. There was a an older Monte Carlo's in the garage getting worked on. By chance I hit my keyless remote in my pocket and it locked the doors on the car/made the chirp and light flash.

Needless to say, I spent the hour messing the the techs inside the garage....

Young fun.

 

Hmm...that's wild, but I think I'm willing to take the risk.

 

I am having this pos remote starter and another one installed as well as a new hu probably next week. The guy I go to is awesome. I will ask him to look into how they disabled it.

Perhaps you could deliver your load to the bed then hit the door unlock switch?

 

Not any door. My 08 you have to open Drivers or front passenger. I opened one of the back doors to get my ice scrapper, leaned up front and started the truck. I closed the door and started scraping the ice off, after 1 minute I heard the doors lock. Stood there waiting for my laughing wife for an hour while my truck was running.

I had the truck for 3 days by then, called the dealer told him there should be an override if the truck is running. He agreed of course and said good luck I got your money now.

 

Wow that sucks. On my '09 I can open the rear doors and it disables the autolock.

 

I can open any door and it will keep the truck from locking. I had a similar problem with my front passenger door. Turned out it was a bad switch which wasn't registering the door being opened (brand new truck). Open your rear door and see if you get the door open light on your dash. If not, it's possible you have some bad switches.
