Hey y'all! My girlfriend just made the decision today that she will be attending Vanderbilt Law School in the fall, so we are starting to make plans for our move from Boston down to Nashville.

I just wanted to jump in and introduce myself, figure out if y'all had any resources on the laws I should know, or which areas to look at apartments in. Also, if any of y'all know of anywhere that needs a JavaScript Software Engineer, let me know!

I'm from Louisiana originally, got to Boston the long way for college, and been here for about 7 years. I'm looking forward to actually spicy food (Yankee spicy == southern medium at best!), and warmer weather! I'm very excited!

I've heard! I've had it a few times, but that's probably about like ordering Gumbo up here. It just isn't the same!

My girlfriend is in grad school, too. Welcome to being broke

(Or be comfortable with $250k in debt)

No joke, someone in her class bought a car with their loan money.

Haha too true! I'm already going to get some sticker shock looking at job salaries. The cost of living is like 40% cheaper between Boston and Nashville, so it makes sense that the salaries are proportionally smaller. Should be about the same buying power though.

    Thank you! I'm very excited!

Being from southern La myself I find this latitude very comfortable.

Welcome! You wheel? Love the enthusiasm haha.

As for the software; I'm in the field and have a lot of contacts locally, but I live in Memphis. HMU if you ever need something a little farther West in TN

Nah, I'm a Saints fan (God help me!), and as much as I enjoy hockey, I've never bought any gear besides a Ragin Cajuns decorative plate haha

    Woo! Where abouts?

Thank you! I'm pretty damn excited to get out of the cold! There isn't much wheeling up here, but I've gone through a couple of the trails we've got. Nothing too crazy, since this truck is still my Daily Driver!

From what Google Maps tells me, it would be a hell of a commute from Nashville to Memphis! Much appreciated though! If you hear anything about jobs in the Nashville area I'd be very interested! I already pull an hour commute each way, so I'm fairly flexible haha

Yes you definitely don't want to commute to Memphis haha. Solid 4 hours drive at rush hour. Meant if y'all ever moved out this way.

And you should try to make it to some meets! Most of our group doesn't do anything extreme offroad. A few of us wheel the harder stuff but for the most part the majority of us daily our trucks

Thanks man! I definitely plan on making the meets! I've been to almost every one up here since I joined up!

So in Mass we have yearly emissions and safety inspection, and they limit how high you can lift/lower your vehicle, exhaust mods, lights, etc. It's a shit show. I see in some counties in TN you need an emissions inspection when you renew, but I can't seem to find how often you renew. Any of y'all know?

    I found this: http://www.liftlaws.com/tennessee_lift_laws.htm

I don't think I'll have any problems with those rules haha. Is there anything else y'all think I should be aware of?

I can't believe how many of y'all have first gens! There's only one first gen on TW up here that I can think of. They've all rusted out!

I've been fluid filming my frame every six months since I got it, just to be safe. Seems like I won't have to worry about that anymore! Woo!

That’s odd. The only other person in this world I know from Louisiana is from Slidell.

For whatever reason it seems like half the people you meet that are from Louisiana are from Slidell. Idk why!

I'm from Lafayette originally, but I moved away fairly young unfortunately haha

Big Mac I am heading up your way next month on a two week trip to Maine going to Bar Harbor for a adventure. Going to spend a night in Salam Ma and check out some of the sights there for the day.
