Thats a nice truck. Why the false advertising, having a bad ass TRD Off Road is not enough?

I put 1 can per wheel of plastidip 2 years and 36,000 miles ago. Still looks new. Spent the time on prep and took my time.

When I bought the truck I wanted the Toyota font on the grille. I waited and waited and looked at a million aftermarket ones. Finally just got the Toyota one.

Badges were included in the deal so I just did it...

Awesome thanks. I think i'll do the same 'cause I do like the look. Did you do it with wheels still on truck or did you take wheels off?

I say this with respect and with the hopes that perhaps you can realize that adding fake badging is not a “cool” thing. It is very different to adding a grill. Your truck is a TRD Off Road, not a Pro.

That Pro badge is telling people that you have a Pro. Which you do not. Essentially, you are lying to people.

If you are OK, with misleading people. Then cool, you do you.

I just figured Id take a chance with you and say something to you about it, because perhaps you did not realize what adding that cool little piece of plastic does.

I think the Pro badge looks cool as hell also. Unfortunately, I couldn’t justify ponying up the extra cash for it tho.

I’ll just rep my TRD Off Road, which is also another badass truck.

Thanks for the concern but I am capable of making my own decisions, and don't remember asking for approval. Let's let this be the end of it, man to man...

    Nothing worthy

I'm a big LEXUS IS fan and I attribute this to be the same as somebody putting "F" Badges on a non "F" IS
BIG difference between the two, not cool..

Or like a non "M3" having "M" badges on their BMW...

It's TOYOTAS fault for allowing the sale of PRO parts to people without PRO VIN #'s

I hear that. I come from a sports car / muscle car comunity and it is the same there. Frowned upon. Its always one of two reasons, cluelessness or lack of integrity.

Any add-on from the upper trims is fair game, except for badges (unless you want to be the laughing stock of that community).

You see this on V6 mustangs with Cobra badges, base corvettes with Z06 badges, V6 camaros with SS or ZL1 badges, base F150s with Lightning / Raptor badges, etc.

    Sad phenomenon, really.

I agree with you and Zyborg that adding a badge for a different trim feels out of place. But I disagree with you on the bit about the sale of Pro parts. I think some of the other Pro accessories such as the grill, headlights, tail lights, fog lights or skid are fair game. They're Pro parts, but they don't necessarily misidentify a truck. The Pro Badge however is an insignia of a Pro truck. So placing it on a non-pro is misleading, as was the case in your examples of the Lexus IS and BMW M3. Having said all that, and despite our thoughts, I also respect an individual's right to do whatever the hell they want with their property. It's definitely poser-ish. But if he wants to be a poser, that's his prerogative. I would just caution him and others that folks like us are familiar enough with these trucks to know when one is posing.

I am ok with the manufacturer selling upper trim parts to others. No problem there. I am ok with anyone adding any upper level parts. It’s “fair game” like you said.

Now... If it was up to me, I would restrict the sale of parts off the top model (Pro); therefore, helping that trim retain its exclusivity.

    Agreed on all points.

978F9315-C767-46B2-B234-E4C2021C8837.jpg I haven’t put them on and still haven’t decided if it will. but I appreciate the ingenuity and effort from the user who made them. I’ve seen some photos of other members with the custom pro badges with the PRO Replaced with BRO, SPORT, OFF ROAD. And I think SR5. I say more power to them. I’m sure some people would scoff at the idea of it but I think it’s a nod to the pro, and to a cool aesthetic feature.

I remember upon release of the Pro line-up for 2015, it was said that to order any Pro related parts, the customer must provide a valid VIN number. Obviously that's not the case since nearly everyone has the Pro grille(including myself on my Baja, practically the father of the Pro), but I do wish it remained as planned initially to make the Pro line-up more "exclusive."

Most of the Pro grilles you see are not genuine Toyota products.

Finally de-badged bed. Removed other emblems awhile ago and I like it better. Now I need new wheels lol

Agreed. I work with a guy who drives a Pre-Runner. Nice truck. I understand his rationale for not caring to own 4WD......yet he went and put various "4x4" & "Off-Road" badges & decals on it recently.

Back when I was driving my Mustang GT....I really enjoyed the car and was tempted a couple of times to trade it in or sell it and get the Cobra model. Never was I tempted to put Cobra emblems or decals on my GT so it would pass as a Cobra.

    People do some strange stuff.

Maybe I should buy a new Camry....and swap out the badging for Lexus labeling.....It may fool some of the folks during mall crawling excursions. :anonymous:
