They provide specs on these things before you make the purchases.

you are right, I probably should have done my measurements. but I was told that the specific tent will only have a little overhang from one of their employees.

Well, if the fabricators were smarter, they would make full length bed racks. Not only do they offer more utility, but the look better too.

the rainier tent is too big to rotate it to open to the rear. if you set it up to open to the rear then the tent would hang over the sides. ill post a pic later of the adjustment i made to the rear bar to compensate for the length of the tent. sometimes i wish i bought a long bed, but then my truck wouldnt fit in my garage.

Your other option is to mount it on a cap and let the front overhand over the cab. A buddy is doing the same and I'll try to grab a pic off his IG.

i have thought about that, but if i mount it on a cap, then my truck wont fit into my garage. Im screwed because of my garage.

    Hey Jeff,

I was just gonna ask you if have you done something to resolve the issue on overhang tent you have? the reason i ask is i bought the same thing and im using the Hi Rise crossbars from KB Voodoo. i really like the tent with plenty of space but didn't realize it's going to be that big over the bed. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

Hi @jeffkimkp do you have a short bed?

I'm looking into the CVT Denali and I have a short bed.. should I consider a smaller tent? Is there any harm to the truck/bars/tent if there's an overhang? Thank you!

if i ever buy a rtt again i would rather buy a trailer and mount it on that! i would never (this is personal) have a rtt on a truck bed or roof top on a car ever! so much drag, you will waste gas and if you dont use it say like once a month its a waste!

i would not recommend going smaller unless its just 1 person, unless you really like to sleep uncomfortable with a loved one.

I had a Mt rainier and it fit perfectly over my long bed. A buddy ran the same tent on his short bed and the overhang was excessive. There’s no way a Denali would fit on short bed.
