200 is the temp that trans fluid starts to break down but it breaks down very slow at that temp. I saw multiple charts that said that at 200F, it should be good for 100k. My 09 is the offroad and simply has the stock/factory trans cooler on it. Nothing after market for cooling other that the 170 degree thermostat.
I would recommend the kit even if you're watching the temps. The valvebody is set up for factory power levels and we're above that so upgrading the valve body to match is good piece of mind and will help prevent premature wear/tear.

I completely agree, and upgrade is a good thing when putting more power to it. What I am trying to decide is if it is worth getting the other valve body out of the old trans and putting the RatioTek in it, or is what I have now, the TransGo kit, is that going to be sufficient. Because the RatioTek kit addresses the added pressure levels but doesn't address some of the other things like the flare up and slow TCC valve like TransGo kit does. So both would be best but not sure that is a good route to go. And as I have already replaced one trans, I don't want to be the guinea pig. Also I have the factory off-road trans cooler and a large cooler from a Dodge Cummins.

I am aware that there seems to be some sort of debate between not being able to use both kits in conjunction, but in order to understand what is going on here you will need to study the parts included with the TransGo kit and study the RatioTek kit. The TransGo kit uses many different items which are not included in the RatioTek kit. What tips me off over you being able to use it is that the TransGo kit never has you enlarging offices and installing spring upgrades like the RatioTek does.

You would be able to install the RatioTek kit in on top of the TransGo kit. The RatioTek kit makes modifications at the boost valves, plungers, and valve body check valve orfices by enlarging them and using a combination of manually increasing line pressure as well as increase spring tension to said valves and plungers by installing dual and even triple springs into the setup already in place.

The modifications they make are different to the TransGo kit, but benefit the valve body in a much different way than the TransGo kit does. It is therefore my observation that you will be fine in doing further modifications using the RatioTek kit.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, however, and do your due diligence as you should.

Being on the topic of trannies.. I’ve got a built a340 available to me. Stamped on the tranny is 30-41LS. Built up for a 700hp 1Jz. I know that the entire thing isn’t compatible. But how likely is it that some of the internals are swappable. I’m mostly interested in clutch packs and the valve body.

Edit: here’s the link for the post

Not directly related, but Raybestos makes upgraded clutch packs for the transmission as well. @Lucario Runner installed them in his with the IPT valve body upgrade.

I will do some research because the TransGo kit does come with drill bits to drill holes, but I think they were used to make new not to enlarge for more pressure. Some research will need to be done and I will begin looking into it.

That is good info as I have a trans that I was thining about rebuilding and selling, maybe I ought to rebuild stronger and put in and sell the stock one. If I can get the valve body upgrades worked out I could end up with a great trans that will hold the pressures for spirited driving as well as towing. And would keep me from buying a Tundra for a bit longer. But the taco will not go away. EVER!

Is there a Toyota-focused transmission shop in our area that you’d trust (if there is one)?

    I ask because...

    1. I want to avoid the cost and logistical nightmare of having my transmission rebuilt/upgraded by IPT (want to use the original transmission); and,

    2. What is the benefit of having the transmission rebuilt versus any combination of these kits?

I can withstand just about anything breaking on this truck, but I want the motor and transmission/driveline to be bulletproof.

Kozmic Motorsports can. Will they? Only they know. I am sure other places can as well. Lucario Runner upgrade his clutch packs because he wanted the trans to be able to hold about 600 - 700 whp. The valve body for less slippage.

Those kits, as far as I know, do nothing with upgrading the clutch packs.
