I flashed to 1.04 87 this morning. Idle 10 minutes and drove to work. Still had the downshift clunk at the first 3 stoplight of my commute, at 0.5 mile, 1.5 miles and 2 miles from the house. Then got on the highway for about 12 miles. Outside temperature was mid 60s, engine up to temp, transmission temp slightly below operating temp I think, wasn't data logging or monitoring at the time.

The clunk sounds and feels exactly like it was with stock tune. Difference is, the clunk is present with 1.04 even when engine / transmission is warm. I email log data to Mat last night (1.04 91 04B03). Really hope he can resolve the issue since everything else with 1.04 is great. But the clunk can't be good for the transmission / drive line.

This may be a dumb question, but I was running 91 on 1.04 on 265/75/16 E Loads and just swapped in 285/75/16 tires. With the learning should I Re flash?

Yes, it’s off. If you can’t get pcmflash to download, I had to allow .exe files to make changes to the computer in the control panel (those are usually virus files so your computer blocks most of them). And then you can change back for protection after it downloads.

This tune disables transmission learning. You don't need to do anything for a tire change

Has anyone experimented with ECU OVTuned and TCU stock tune?

I’m thinking about using a combination of the OVTune ECU tune with a stick TCU tune and an SSP to experiment. I really liked the SSP shift points.

**I remember Mat mentioning TCU required adjustments for the Hp/Tq gains, but can’t remember the details.

I've lost track of who is auto and who is manual here....

Is it possible that this "clunk" is the driveline slack? If I let off the gas quickly (regardless of tune since it did it stock from day 1) there is an obvious clunk from the driveline slack.

Not going to get you the result you’re looking for. The ECU controls the shift points - the TCU updates (IIRC) only impact some pressure settings as far as the tune goes which does make for smoother shifting I’d assume. With the ECU flash you’ll still have the same shift points

Keep us posted. So odd how some trucks behave vs others. I don’t feel anything that even resembles a clunk under any driving scenario anymore

Do you have the tune yet? I went from ssp and tune is wayyyyyyy better at shifting.

Surging right after start up and putting it in gear. My foot was on the brake and the truck was not moving. Steering wheel was not touched and hvac was off.

A few minutes prior it was way worse but didn’t have my phone. I shut off the truck and let it sit for 5 minutes then recorded the above.

This only happens if I put it in gear D or R right after start up and keep my foot on the brake.

So I had clunk on 1.04 91 04B03 (automatic). Flashed to 1.04 87, still had clunk. Via email, Mat told me 87 and 91 have same shift settings. Make sense.

Flashed back to 1.03 91 this afternoon, drove around trying to reproduce the clunk. NO CLUNK at all on 1.03 91. Same truck, same fuel in tank, same outside temperature. Mat is working on resolving the issue for me, so I'm just patiently waiting for his magic touch.
