I have that, when I was stock it would only happen when the engine was cold. Now it happens most of the time, but its much less pronounced, almost hard to notice but annoying none the less.. I think it has to do with the TC lockup.

Thats good news i was going to flash back tomorrow after work to 1.03 91. Looks like thats the ticket for now. Did it revert back to falling on its face turning corners on 1.03 91?

I never had the issue of "falling on it's face" turning corners on 1.03. In fact, I loved the smooth transition from brake to throttle while turning on 1.03, 91 and 87 tune versions. But I never "gun it" coming out of turns, just not my driving style in a truck lol. Brake to throttle transition seem more jerky with 1.04 to me.

With that said, there is a lot to love about 1.04. Smooth power delivery, no mini surges while turning steering wheel, improved MPG, and all the other improvement Mat mentioned in his release note.

Beside the aggressive throttle tip in from a dead stop, 1.03 have the best shift settings, for me.

For my setup i like the aggressive throttle.I liked the shift points better on 1.03 also. I cant take that clunk any more, i hope Mat can figure out the clunk problem! I cant wait for individual tunes if i can get 3-4 gears to hold just a little longer that would be great.

I really love TacomaWorld ....As much shit as we talk and argue, it still feels like extended family in a weird way lol Big shout out to @dubstyle7 and @Friedtacolover for going out of there way to teach me how to do the flash on my own. They saw my frustration and took time out of their day to help my dumbass out lol I just went for a test drive with the new flash and I love it right away! Shifting is definitely more on point. Great job @OVTune and thank you for all your hard work , and sorry for inundating you with a million jerry questions :boink: haha

I’m not sure if it’s the same clunk that some are getting but I’m getting what seems to be a hard downshift from 3rd to 2nd when coming to a stop. I don’t really hear it as much as I do feel it.

Been running 1.04 for the past few days. Power seems the same (coming from 1.03) but the surging upon startup is gone. It was VERY annoying. Also, I use to have a bad hesitation on low throttle input from a near stop. This seems gone too, we'll see if it doesn't come back. Overall I am still loving this Tune.

First leg of 800 mile trip complete and after 6 days with 104AT 87 octane, I satisfied but maybe expected a little more.

The ECU/TCU tune is solid and much more deliverable than factory stock. But sometimes still felt the truck lacked power when needed, and then would start to fall behind the pack sailing down I65 South at 80.

Second stop for gas not bad 19.3mpg. My truck has had the overall tire diameter increased by 1", so my speedometer is about 2mph slower when at 60. Split the difference and I'm at 20.3mpg. Decided to fill up with Shell 89.

Wow did this seem to make a difference. Not sure how or if possible with OVTune 104/87 running 89 octane. This gave me the best impression so far. Smooth, consistent, strong, responsive and refined. Gas mpg about the same, but improved performance is well worth the added 18 cents per gallon. Butthat's my two cents.

My official review to come on sticky soon.

That’s nothing out of the ordinary. Happened on my 2016 on day one straight from the factory. That’s 100% normal operation with these trucks (including the manual)

Good luck on the Dyno today - I'd try to get some miles in before you hit the Dyno if at all possible. The tunes don't settle in for a few miles but I'd at least try and get plenty of good idle time in, and a couple of WOT pulls (or near) to set high/low targets so it's not still doing it's learning before.

I'm going to go drive around for at least 20 minutes before i pull up to the shop just to play it safe.

So I took to the highway yesterday to go mountain biking. Up until this point I had around 500 miles on the tune, and it was working well, however of those 500 miles, none of it was at highway speeds. On the way to the trail head (100 miles or so) I wasn't really liking how the truck was driving, didn't feel as refined as it was around town. On the drive back It was like a different animal, it drove beautifully.. I'm thinking that it still had some learning to do at highway speeds, and the drive out was what did the trick. On the way back it held 6th, smoothly went to 5th as necessary, and just felt really good.

Oh, and the fuel mileage was remarkable. I got around 22MPG and that was a combination of 70mph highway, 20 miles in S4 through the hills, and the 5 mile 5mph crawl on the cross bronx expressway. Having larger tires and the drag of my DH bike sticking up above the cab, I wasn't expecting mileage that high.

That appears to be part of the startup until it settles. My truck did this with 1.03 tune, but it doesn’t do it once the truck warms up for 15 secs. Yours is barely doing it.

Also with 1.04 this doesn’t happen at all anymore for me

Well like I said it was worse on my initial start up but I didn’t have my phone.

Yes after it settles this doesn’t occur.

Weird too is that in P the idle doesn’t bounce. Only surges in gear after startup. Which is likely due to the load of being in gear.

I had the exact same experience. It’s funny how giving it the juice during the learning cycle helps it settle in to be ideal. After that I just drive normal and it’s awesome
