There’s a lot to it. Check the rear diff breather, on top of the pumpkin driver side. Sometimes they get clogged and cause pressure to build in the rear diff, blowing the seals. Loads of information here on how to trouble shoot and replace the seal(s).

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Not really 1st gen related, but a small rant nonetheless. The 80 series cruiser has the world's most annoying exhaust routing, and uses special hangers that are purpose built for how it hangs on, none of the usual rubber oval things. Unfortunately I have to reweld it and it is so tough to get to its parts.

It's not hard but does require the right tools. Mainly a press and the tool to hold the backing plate while you press the axle out. Getting the retainer rings set right is the most important part.

About as cool as all your friends jeeps at school until you start welding... :luvya:

    Holy fuck.

    I should be a mechanic.

I could do all that in a day now. Not that freaking hard. If you can't do that shit then I'm really glad you didn't try swapping a motor in your truck.

Nice. Shouldn't be hard. Can always run windshield washer fluid and that's cheap and easy to find. It's 60/40 water/meth.

    Why?

it's not that i cant do it its more like i dont have time. im working overtime everyday cause somebody fudged our inventory numbers. working 16-18 hour a day 6-7 days a week. nice for the wallet but if anything needs done well thats another story. i would have waited until the work slowed down but im already 40-50k overdue probably. toyota replaced the engine from the PO had it but i dont know how many miles ago. they said about 100k when i bought it it now has 235k body miles.

Dropped the carrier bearing a little bit. If you've been chasing a vibration, I highly recommend it.IMG_20180504_223343_646.jpg

My truck lost its balls :(

Cut the exhaust off just past the rear axle which meant taking off the TRD portion of it. Didn't realize how much sound that thing made...my truck is 10x quieter now...

Small price to pay I guess...won't have to worry about smashing it on rocks anymore and I'll finally stop having to replace zip ties to hold it in place because the hangars always broke.

Well since yesterday was my last final (graduating with a BS in Electrical Engineering), I figured I should get off my ass and build my bumper before I go wheeling tomorrow.
