What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Gotta connect my AFR gauge wire to a "10-18 volt power source utilizing a 10-A fuse"...

....can someone explain this to a wiring noob? Got my gauge all set up except for this part.

 

Sounds good! I’ve never rode down south of skagit so that would be fun. Sounds like you do a lot of the same kind of riding I do. Mines the KL250. I love the bike carrier. It’s way nicer then taking your canopy off and you can lock it and store all your riding gear in the back. It’s easier to load by yourself too.

 

That just says "connect to the battery (12v is between 10-18v) and make sure to use a 10A fuse on that wire that goes to the battery." I assume there are several other connections as well - for ground, to the AFR sensor, etc.

@turbodb there is a ground wire, that part I understand I just didn't know if it was referring to the battery with the other part.

So the part I'm a little unclear on still is the 10A fuse...do I run this wire straight to the battery terminal (and the other wire to the ground)? Where does the fuse come into play?

 

Yes, straight to the battery, and put the fuse in the wire to the battery.

Edit: you could also run to a bussman box, or some other 12v power source as well (as long as it can handle 10A).

 

Yeah, if it doesn't want switched power then just run a fused 14ga wire from the battery positive, it is for the heater circuit on the new AFR sensor.

 

Today I traded in my 2001 Tacoma for a 2005Tundra
Way more room and more power under the hood.
I love it. And it's got a DVD player
I test drove a few 2017 tacomas and was disappointed in the lack of power with the new motor they have .

 

I decided this is a bit too much for me to tackle in the dark at 11pm at night, lol. I got the bung/O2 sensor welded in earlier and ran the wires for it up through the engine bay and through my firewall.

Hitting a pretty tough trail tomorrow a couple hours away so had to call it for the night, I'll finish up the gauge install on Sunday most likely

 

The 4dr Tundra in that body style is not easy to find. Especially in that good of condition!

 

Did you happen to yank the Supercharger out to sell separately before trading it in?

FYI third gen 4runner seats will not fit (bolt in) our trucks. I thought I could swap the seats onto the sliders but the 4Runner seats are about 1.5" wider I believe.

I finally got rid of my weird 60/40 front bench that was worthless. Now time to buy or make a center console. Would be nice to be big enough to lock a DSLR and a handgun in if needed...
