I'm in the market for a bed tent for a 2015 TRD Pro.
Any suggestions? Air mattress? the way the wheel wells are in the bed I'm not sure what to get?

Don't know if you saw already but I checked the website and it comes with a tailgate extension. Might be enough room with that.

Check out the tent I linked to if you want one that'll work with a cap. As for mattress, I bought a full sized air mattress from walmart for $20 with an electric pump... it's perfect and very comfortable. Just don't inflate it 100% and it'll fit between the wheel wells.

Go to truckairbedz.com - there are cut outs for the wheels wells and a built in pump. I have a short bed so I bought the extension that goes on the tail gate. Most comfortable blow up mattress I've ever used!!

I plan on doing this with a bed tent except a 3 piece instead of 2; for easy storage up front, and high density memory foam like an RTT.

I don't take any credit, these are not my pics I got them from (see below)

For the drawer he used skateboard bearings and a 1"x1" piece of wood as a guide support.

    Stock and staying that way
While a great solution is just a couple posts above mine, after trying to hunt from the bed of my truck prone with the rifle on a bipod, let me just say it was not pleasant.

This was my first thought when I saw the thread:

Something not mentioned above I don't believe is I recall sleeping in the bed of my truck in areas closed off to tents because of bears.

There is nothing as nice as stopping the truck - in the rain - and going around to the back to a dry ready sleeping space. All y'all must camp in the desert - setting a tent or a hammock in the rain at night is something you don't want to repeat.

In a pinch - literally - I will curl up in my shortbed in a heartbeat before dealing with the trouble of a tent.

Start of the sleeping build for a 5ft bed. Quality 5/8 plywood for strength and weight. A pair of 2x6's20170429_095521.jpgCarpet the platform with quality carpet 100% nylon unitary backing for waterproof non mildew properties.
20170429_143906.jpg Kick platform for the extension to sleep easily folds to slide under platform when not in use. 20170429_160557.jpg
I also use a support custom made for added strength. View link below for short video on my google + page to see it completed. I made two.
I am selling one I made for a friend that ended up buying a camper. For the cost of the materials. Works great and I would strongly suggest getting a folding foam matress, a full size fits perfectly in my setup. No air pumps and air matresses always leak no matter how much money you spend on top of the line ones. The 4" thick mattress folds into a 2'x4' piece and is really comfortable.

I'm glad this thread was revived! Some really awesome set ups too! My current camping setup is my shell + a DAC tent + a sleeping pad that rolls out. Works well, but I've often woken up in the middle of the night wondering where it all went wrong and why I went with a 5ft bed haha.

My gf likes it tho and that's good enough for me.

Main complaint is that condensation builds up like a mofo inside depending on location and time of year.

how come no one makes a tent platform that can be installed on a bedrack so that you can secure a ground tent on your bedrack?

Got this mostly complete now. It is on a trailer and not in truck, but would fit on your 5ft bed taco’s no problemo (need a small platform to clear wheel wells).
Just an idea to get your minds turning.
