    Oh if I change them I will do it all together... and honestly I have a local shop I will use. I don't have the physical endurance to do much more minor things sadly. (Dumb health crap).
    That's why I am conflicted because... If I am going to do it right I want to do it all at the same time but it keeps adding more things to buy... lol

    My install took about 7 hours, and i was sore for about 4 days. But yeah, wait an extra month or two to save the extra cash to get the extra parts, and do it all at once.

    Very good thread so far. OP is basically me at the moment with my 05. The OEM shocks are on their way out and I kinda wanna lift this truck vs my other truck, which is more handling/sleeper. It rides rough but handles well. I want this one to ride well and handle off road. I'm leaning more towards OME after going through this thread.

    Its a 3 inch in the front and 2.5 in the back so it sits nice and level. It rides pretty good actually if I'm honest. It’s a little on the harsh side but I added a leaf in the back and those coils were way bigger and beefier than the stock ones so it’s what I expected

    Well see somehow I ended up with almost 4" in the rear... so I'm debating just 2-2.5" for the front or do I break down and change the UCA. Then I have to decide on the coils. :0

    I've had all 4 in the air. Felt like landing on pillows with my setup. Wheeler's super bumps are an important part of the equation. It's not the sort of thing that happens often, but it felt nice. Not so much when I did the same on the old bump stops.

    I was pretty much in the same spot. I added spacers to get a full 3" up front, plus I have a 1/2" body lift. I also keep enough weight in the bed to bring it down to 3". I measure 23.5" in the front and 25" in the back.

    It's like a compounding issue... So if I do one thing then it's like well I might as well do this and then that leads to another. I'm trying to avoid buying parts that I won't keep long term.

    Say I go with OME in the front, well I might as well change the coils... but then which ones? how much lift? Do I break down and get the UCAs? Even then do I get the heavier spring rate for a front bumper? Can you ride with the heavier spring without a bumper for a while or do they need to be at the same time?

    Lots of guys are running around on 886 coils without bumpers. Most say it's firm, but not bad.

    I highly recommend UCAs for the extra travel they offer, and suggest SPC for their adjustability. My truck wanted to wander all over the road with 2.5" of lift on stock UCAs. Wide tires and offset wheels exacerbate the problem exponentially.

    Lifting these trucks is like feeding a mogwai after midnight then throwing the offspring in a swimming pool. Welcome to the rabbit hole, Alice.

    YES! UCA’s are very important. Everytime i hit a bump with the stock UCA my steering would go all over the place. Its a must. And thats what I found. Once you buy one thing you gotta buy them all :hattip:

    I have OME 886s with Nitrochargers up front. No sway bar. I corner like a mutha-fuqa. I don't like slow. Very little/minor body roll.


    Before I got a bumper I ran Nitros with 887 coils. 3" of lift and a smooth ride.

    Much like OP I am in the process of deciding what all I need to accomplish the lift I want, but on road stability and comfort is the most important thing to me. Can you (or anyone) explain to me what new UCAs do that the stock ones won't, and why that results in poor handling if you only replace shocks/coils? Thank you.

    UCA's let you adjust your caster. Too little caster and your truck will want to wander and follow the road, you will have to constantly adjust steering on a straight road. The higher you lift the less caster you be able to get with the stock UCA.

    Thank you! Couple more questions since you're in an answering mood. Sorry if this is repetition of previously answered questions. If I plan to lift 2.5" in the front, should I expect to need UCAs to get proper caster? And will any of the aftermarket UCA options accomplish the appropriate caster, or will certain ones allow different caster than others?
