Yeah looks like a good route to go. I’ve got 7”suspension and 3”body lifts and it would seem to be enough for 37’s but I’m hesitant about trimming since I haven’t had to do any so far!

For those out there still waiting to burn these in @HomerTaco, just thought I’d share some lessons learned.

    1st.
Don’t fuck around with cheap cutting wheels. The cheaper off brands I had on hand disintegrated in no time.

    AAA87B36-6575-4538-A453-6AF2BBC97235.jpg

    F528C0DE-F37E-43B2-8754-359C33987635.jpg

After I burned through the Cheapos I picked up a pack of DeWalts and they were superior in every way. Cut faster and didn’t fall apart. If you have a plasma cutter....fuck you.

    2nd.
I found it easier to get the hole plug plate in place by tacking it to a rod then inserting it into the hole. I tacked the plug in place the broke the rod off.

    0D1D1EC2-E7E7-47A9-9E4E-4814D5341ACE.jpg

Notice the pitting up there? Yeah, me too and we’ll get there.

    3rd.

The frame behind the cab mount was fucked. 12 years of the elements, and some beach driving took its tole. This is a handful of frame that fell out after I removed the stock mount.

    EFD9A31A-D1C4-4ED2-90F7-FA4A58F9DA65.jpg

    A7E2DCBF-C568-4E89-9127-03AFA2C6B6EC.jpg

The lower left portion of the area inside the old cab mount in the above picture is what fell away into my hand as seen above, leaving that section of the frame thin.
The lesson learned here is, if you have that amount of corrosion, you need to turn down your welder accordingly when welding the plug in so you don’t burn a hole in the frame. It doesn’t take a lot of juice to melt that plug in.

    4th.
POR-15! Yeah it costs a fortune but it’s worth it especially if your frame is as jacked as mine. After I plugged the hole I slathered the entire area with it, let it dry for a day then only removed what was needed to weld the mount on.

    B08FD711-BAF2-4544-805F-8CF15A9D0B86.jpg

After mocking up the mount I only removed enought POR-15 to alow for welding.

    5th.
Prep things you can’t paint after instal before instal. Self explanatory I know.

    6th.
Don’t drill the hole throug the body until the mount is welded in, or at least tacked in. This will keep you from drilling that hole slightly out of place. Also, when you hole saw the floor board make sure you use a hole saw larger than the washer that has to pass through it... yeah, I’m that guy. Had to bore out the hole with a dremil.

    3FFC1CD9-A74B-4943-B580-F6E133AB4380.jpg

You can see it’s a bit oblong towards the bottom. I had the right size on hand, just chose incorrectly.

    7th.

Paint the shit outta that thing, and clean up the frame while you’re down there. I used POR-15 as a base coat, then primed, then Top coated with bed liner.

    EDIT:

Wear gloves when using POR-15. This shit doesn’t come off

No but in all seriousness I’d definitely consider going with the cab mount relocation kit to keep from having rubbing issues should I go with 37’s and a cmc as a ‘last resort’ if I had to. good information here!

If you’re running 35s with no CM modifications I bet you can run 37s with a simple chop and avoid the relocation. But we’re all still sitting here saying “10 inches, WTF”

I did the same thing as you with the wood shim between the body and frame. Cut and placed in there to hold the same spacing as the stock mounts, correct?

Shittiest thing you ever had to cut off of your truck, right?

It definitely sucked. But the worst thing I ever cut off was the rear shackle hangers because at the time I didn’t have appropriate tools (it was 10years ago). Given the appropriate tools this was way worse. You can cheat it a bit after cutting the Majority of the mount off by grinding through the welds on the frame then Using a chisel and hammer to get the rest off. Definitely don’t grind the welds with a flap disk, you’ll be there all day.

That would be nice for 35's. My 37's would touch that bushing. But my truck cleared 35's with a aggresive normal cab mount chop.

My 35s would have too but when I ditched the ProComp wheels for beadlocks the backspacing on them forced me to run a .75 spacer to keep the tire off the frame and UCA at full lock. That .75” made me cut down the body mount till it was dangerous and basically a snorkel to shoot crap into the frame

It is a nice design if your running maybe a 36" tire max. My 37's would touch the bushing in that style mount.

@Robertocritser How close are your tires to the bolt for the stock cab mount bushing?
