Just thought I would share my experience with these tires.

I purchased a set of 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W in 10/17, I really liked these tires at first. They seemed to be good in the rain, snow, and mud with remaining quiet on the highway. I was happy with my purchase until around a month ago, I noticed that the tires were wearing very quickly for the amount of miles that I had on them (8K in 7 months). I took them into discount tire to get them rotated and found out that they are already at 60% tread. I asked the manager at Discount Tire how this was possible, and he blamed me and said that these tires need to be rotated every 5-7k. Little did he know I came in around 3 months earlier when the tires only had 5k on them and discount tire refused to rotate them for me and he said I needed to wait until I had put 8,000 miles on them. I understand that these tires have a 55k warranty, but at this rate there is no way these tires will even make it to 25k. This might be a worthless rant, but as of right now I regret buying these tires and wish I would of stuck with my old set of K02's.

I don’t have experience with these tires. I’ve read and read about these tires and was referred by a tire guy from Costco to get them... mixed reviews, to many people mentioning about the wear is diminishing quick. The price is nice... hope this help out others.

So you used less than 1/2 the tread in 30,000 miles, seems like that's on track to get the full 55,000 miles out of them. Are you happy with how they're wearing or disappointed?

So far happy with them, mech found a unrepairable hole in the sidewall though when he went to rotate em, guess we will see how this cert thing works.

    update:

So some how I picked up a piece metal on the inside sidewall of the rear tire.

Those certs work out really well, the replacement tire costs $14 and they’re shipping today.

So I picked up a set of these from my dealership. The guy said he got them off a trade in and they are used with 800 miles on them. He said he had to convert the truck back to stock. Sold them to me for $200 and no warranty. Took them to discount tire and the guy told me they’re basically new and could give me a warranty on them for $90. Is it worth it?

I really hate these tires considering they are at 60% after 8000 miles, but 200$ is pretty cheap.

Wont warranty cover replacements if they wear out before 55k? I'm not too sure how that works as I have never had that issue.

Early on a couple of guys in this thread had tires that were wearing very quickly, Falken asked for them back and worked out a deal for a new set.

I had a tire replaced under certificate warranty years ago on my 05. My truck felt really different having one with brand new tread and the other 3 with 15k mikes on them. It just didn't drive right. They told me it would be fine because it was within the variance. I went back a couple times and they kept telling me the tire size difference wasn't causing the issue, it must be something else. Finally it bothered me so much I sold the tires and put new ones on. Felt like a brand new truck again. So be cautious putting on one brand new tire.

I have a brand new tire under the bed as the spare. I bought 5 when originally purchased so that and the new replacement tire will be mounted up and the worn 32k tire will become the spare.

FYI, I have been a long term customer of Discount Tires for a long time. I usually buy the cert if I am buying new tires. I have had to go back to them twice for replacements. No hassle at all. one was a side wall puncture as mentioned above, the other was multiple big gashes from some kind of free way debris. Both tires replaced. It's like insurances, you hope you don't need it, but nice to know its there.

Safe to say I have never seen that wheel before in my entire life, but I kinda like it.

Looks like only two load range is available: SL and E.
SL = P rated so 4 ply? SL and TL not the same?
    E = 10 ply?

Which one have you guys got and any long term reviews so far? I’m thinking of size 285/70/17.

It all depends on what you need. If you need the sidewall protection, you better get the E rated. But they definitely have their disadvantages being so much heavier, harder to balance, mileage suffers etc.

Myself personally, I know I'll be fine with the SL.

who all has had balance issues with these? I know I have. Havent rode smooth yet, after 4 balances at 3 different places, and 1 replacement for being out of round. up to around 10k now I think. reading through the thread seems its very hit and miss. I like these tires, but I also hate these tires.
