We have the regular T&N and the T&N Mint. The Mint is slightly firmer. I’ve noticed if I sleep on my back all night, I wake up a little stiff. But if I alternate side to stomach to side as I normally sleep/toss and turn, I wake up feeling just fine. I sleep better on my back on the regular T&N. Neither of us have chronic back pain. I used to sleep on super soft beds but now I prefer firm. T&N works great for me.

Arrrrgghhhhh...... @Mike330R ......guess it's time for new shocks......

    IMG_2596.jpg

Ok so I swapped the stock leaf pack out with Icon RXT's on the third setting (2.6" lift unloaded - I have probably 450 lbs constant extra weight so should only be about 1.75-2" of lift over stock) and at the same time installed the 2012-2015 TRD Pro / Bilstein 6112/5160 shocks about a 6 weeks ago. Went out to Lake Pleasant yesterday and poked around a bit - nothing crazy just some gentle off-roading.

Look under the truck this morning and notice this.

    So AZ-TW brain trust.....

    1. Is this a warrantable shock failure or am I screwed?

    2. Was this a poor match/combination of leaf springs and shocks - did I make an error with this pairing?

    3. Would this have been a result from too much leaf pack droop or inadequate bump stop setup?

I have a regular T&N and it is great for me...

Try for the warranty anyways. The worst they can say is no.

I'm thinking 2.6" was too much for those Bilsteins which are probably geared towards running at stock height.
That said I can't say I'm too familiar with the abuse from full droop, most of my suspension experience is based around handling bottoming on bump stops and street/track things.

I do know that your brake lines should NOT be limit straps but other than that it's not really my area of expertise.

How old were these shocks before you installed?
I wouldn't think leafs would matter.

As far as I know the Icon RXT's were designed without needing to extend brake lines. Shocks are like 6-8 weeks old....hardly any miles on them.

Hmmm......maybe I oopsed.......apparently the travel specs of the Toyota TRD PRO 5160's are different than the aftermarket Bilstein 5160's.......

    From another thread:

Maybe I'm going to be buying new rear shocks.......

    Fuck.

Heading back from Jambo. it was a slow start and rainy. Eventually I found the v8 first gen 4runner guy and his crew. Not a lot of 'wheeling this year though.

also, bro truck took home a win in the "small tire" class rock crawl competition.

Yeah.....was hoping to upgrade some other stuff and not touching the suspension again for a while but I'll need to order something next week to get the truck back on the road. Luckily I have a work vehicle to drive back and forth so my personal truck can sit until next weekend....

Clickers / No Clickers? I was looking at the Bilstein 8112/8100 combo for down the road but now not so sure. I mean I know I obviously screwed up with this shock/leaf spring pairing but geez....we didn't even do anything much yesterday.

That's a funny way to spell "Fox" ;)

I'll have to do some research before I pull the trigger on my rear shocks- though I am running a stock leaf pack the archive hangars definitely change lift and droop limit.

not a lot of signups this year: 2 or 3 DNFs due to time out or breakage, and 2 or 3 other guys gave me a run for the money. I'd like to see 35s moved to the small tire class since there are so many IFS trucks running that size.

the big-boy class was as crazy as last year.

You don't want to hear it ($$$) but I really like the click adjusters. I like to drive fast on some bumpy dirt roads when heading to some desert spots. I've found I don't bottom out nearly as much when I have them adjusted up 5+ clicks. Still need to try more clicks on the same road to see the difference. On the road or days like yesterday I usually run them close to the softest setting.

Wow. Looks like the mods and snowflakes got their feewings hurt in this thread. They locked me out of the thread for further responses. Its nice to know these mods and dumbfuck posters to selectively remove my posts but not the posts that enflamed my response.

Snowflakism and Californism at work here. tacomaworld FOR THE MOTHER FUCKING LOSE.

I bet a mod is watching my posts too. No warnings, no PMs, no communication. Good fucking job.

At full droop here are my brake lines (also @Mike330R) - seems like sufficient slack to me....?

Oh yeah that's fine. Mike actually helped me with my shackle install and mine had a bit more slack but yeah, if you can boop them around with one finger you're golden.

If they were taut like a piano wire or only had a bit of slack and then stopped, you'd be in need of extended brake lines.
