What does 7 out if 10 mean?

Does it mean 30% of parts are in need of replacement? Numbers don’t mean shit if they have no reference. What is the difference between 7 out of 10 and 5 out of 10?

The dealer told me on my new 2018 every 16000 kms. that is way too long. I will have it changed every 8000.

How do you know its too long? There are many oil analysis reports floating around here that show 10K miles is no problem with this oil. The engineers know what they are doing.

Whatever Toyota fills it back up with at the 10k mile services. About to get the 80k mile service done this upcoming week.

It is just my assumption. My buddy bought his wife a new corolla and he has noticed at 6000 kms.that the oil is turning slightly brown.I do not know anything for sure but it would be nice to know.It would be great to have one of those Tacoma's that lasts 500,000 kms.if you look after it. I know those chances might be pretty slim though.

That was my first handgun back in the early 80's (I was in HS). Have tens of thousands of rounds under my belt. Still my favorite to this day. I'm in Maine.

No, actually the chances are really good your truck will go that distance. Just change the oil and filter and maintain it.
If you want to learn more (so you don't have to listen to your buddy - who by the way is wrong... color change is no big deal with synthetics) search around here for Blackstone Oil analysis. There are dozens that prove 10K miles is just fine.
Don't take my word for it, take a lab report's word!

You got an oil change at 5K!! HA, all I got was a tire rotatation and told to come back at 10K.

When I asked why (these were free dealer services) they said Toyota calls for the first oil change at 10,000

Does Toyota really care if you get 250,000 miles out of your engine.

I wouldn't wait 10,000 until the first oil change on a new engine .

So you would have no problem with the dealers schedule at 16,000 kms? I respect your advice if you found that in the stats.
That is why I'm on this site because some of you guys are really smart with this shit and I'm just starting out in the TACOMA family.

16K km is 9.9K miles. That is the recommended oil change interval (OCI) by Toyota. No problems with that. I have been doing that interval on my 4Runners, Tacoma and my wife's new Highlander. This is the facts. Now, you can do whatever you want of course, it's your vehicle! I recommend learning more about this (owners manual) if you really want to know.

If their oil is that wonderful, why bother with the free stuff?

You should have dumped the OE fill at 1k like it was break in oil and started your elixer then.

As it is, you'll have what, 30k of use with cheap oil? Shame, shame.

Do you ever add anything to the conversation or do you just like talking shit. Just asking.
If you would stop and think for a minute... what differentiates Toyota from all the ither manufacturers is their reputation of reliability and durability. That's all they got. Do you really believe they want to change that?
In addition, they would make MUCH more money if they recommended 5K oil changes instead of 10K, since 95% (thats a real figure) use either a dealer or garage for their oil changes. Just think.
