I have decided to try to install the Toytec ultimate kit/TC UCAs in my small single car garage. My driveway has a pretty steep incline so that is out for sure.

-Would it be possible to pull the taco in real close to one side of the garage while I install the lift on the drivers side then back the taco out and pull it close to the opposite wall to do the passenger side? Is it ok to move the thing with a 3" lift and TC UCAs only on 1 side?

-Will I be able to get it high enough with with the floor jack without it touching the garage door opener? The garage is of standard height.

-Is there anything else I should be worried/concerned about?

Please let me know your thoughts on this...I would hate to get halfway into the job and realize I simply don't have enough room to complete the project or moving the truck in the middle of the project will damage something.

Thanks for all the help! :D

I have a small single car garage as well. I just put the rear AAL in, and only pulled about half the back of the truck in, leaving the front to stick out. I would just do both front and then the back. Good luck with your installation!

hey you should be fine. Either way, side to side or front to rear. it wont hurt to drive with only half lifted.

The incline of my driveway starts right at the exit of my garage so I will have to pull the truck all the way in, but I can work on the open end of the garage giving me plenty of room at the back of the truck. The sides of the truck will be VERY tight though! :(

Anyother opinions/suggestions? Anyone else done this before? Anyone else that has installed the ultimate lift think I will hit a snag due to the garage size limitation?

    Thanks again! :D

    back to bone stock.
the only limiting factor would be room to pump the floor jack. if you can pull that off, everything else is a piece of cake. the front definately needs less floor pumping action. stick the rear towards the big door.

safety issue. make damn sure the rig is safely supported! in a tiny garage, you have little room for escape. i stick my removed tires under there for some breathing (literally) room, should things come down.

I'm not very familiar with Toyetc Ultimate, but doing one side then the other is NUTS! That might be OK for the front suspension, but the rear end of the truck needs to be done at the same time. Lifting only one side will put a torque (twist) on the rear end and you'll NEVER get the bolts back thru the shackle and eye holes when fitting the leaf springs back up doing one side at a time. You need to drop the ENTIRE rear end or you'll be hating life. I was amazed at how the entire rear suspension is held in place by the driveshaft and the rear leafs. I never thought about it until the truck was up and everything was disconnected.

Also, you'll want 4 jack stands and 2 jacks. 2 big 6 ton jack stands under the frame rails and 2 smaller ones under the rear axel (one on each side). You'll need 2 jacks for when you lower the rear axel and remove the 2 jackstands when reinstalling the rear leafs.

    Good Luck!

x2 on the rear suspension. I didn't think of it till the last responce, but I dont think its possible to do the rear, one side at a time. You must do both sides at once.

When you say the sides are going to be very tight...how tight. It is not a real complicated job, it does take some wiggle room to get the old assembly out though, and get the new one in. If you have less than 2 feet on each side I would say your going to be way cramped. I am 6'6'' though so moving around in tight spaces is not favorable for me.

I should have about 2 feet on both sides but it would be alot more roomy if I could park the truck close to one side of the garage to do the drivers side then move it to the other side of the garage and do the passenger side.

SOmeone posted that doing that would not be recommended.

Again, I did the fronts one side then the next... no big deal. When you "TRY" to do the back that way, you'll get the shock removed, the break line brackets off, the bump stop off, the u-bolts off, the rear leaf springs out, AND YOU'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET IT BACK TOGETHER TO INSTALL THE NEW LEAF SPRINGS WITHOUT REMOVING THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!!!

Save yourself a huge headache and don't try it!!! What happens is the driveshaft is heavy and twists and rotates the rear axel. You'll NEVER get the OEM leafs back in nor will you get the new larger leaf pack to fit. It is a MAJOR PITA if you try to do one side at a time... TRUST ME... that's the way I tried to do it and killed over 4 hours before figuring it out and dropping the entire rear end and finishing the job. I'd almost say it CAN NOT be done... really...

HAHA I did exactly what you're thinking about doing. It's not a big deal man...you're lucky if you've got 2 ft clearance on each side. I had stuff in the garage (and it was snowing outside) that gave me less room than that.

I pulled further to one side, put the coilover/leaf on then quit for the night. Next morning I pulled a stuck snow plow out with the passenger side stock and the driver side lifted! Yeah people were doing double-takes. Taco lean to the extreme!

The hardest part was adjusting the coilovers in that tight space w/ a 3 ft breaker bar!

When I did my lift I did it one side at a time, both front and rear. I backed it out and then did the other side. Much like you are thinking of doing.

Not sure why some people are making this out to be more of a big deal than it is.

Just don't torque everything down right away. Since you're only backing the truck out and driving it back in, there shouldn't be any problems. After both side are done the truck will sit level and then torque it all down.

Also, when we lowered my buddies truck, we did the exact same thing, one side at a time. Not a big deal and definitely not impossible.

How the heck did you guys get the bolts back in thru the shackle and the front? There was NO WAY I could get that done. Is this Toytec kit a true 3" leaf pack we're talking about here?

We had the truck on jack stands under the frame, then took the jack and put it under the axle and jacked it up to where it needed to be and just finessed the bolts together. Once we figured it out it took all of 10 minutes.

No, I installed the 2" AAL. I did not have to mess with the shackles for my install.
