Yeah brakes are next on my list once I sort out a few more maintenance items. I'm really looking forward to doing the brakes...

I currently have a 16" steelie spare wheel. But I've been keeping an eye out for a spare aluminum wheel so I can do a full tire rotation. They seems to pop up on ebay for ~$80 pretty often, I just haven't bought one yet. I'm also holding out for some aftermarket wheels so I can get rid of the spacers I have on right now...

I like it and I don't like it at the same time. I like the weight of it but the looks are kinda meh to me. Also I'm not a fan of the fit and finish from All Pro. The bumper fit fine, but they're skid plates suck. I dunno... a new bumper is very far down on my priorities for the truck. I need a winch first lol

I was kicking myself for not picking that up during Black Friday when it was like $25 or something. That's probably the route I'm going to go.

Yeah this is something that is on the list right after a brake upgrade haha. I think I would rather just get rid of the DRL functionality all together, unless I can think of something that looks OEM-ish.[/QUOTE]

I don't have an AAL currently and I don't think I would need one unless I was going crazy with gear and stuff in the bed.

Feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll send you all the details on what I did. My final costs including brake fluid were about $510 with all new parts. You could save some cash if you found some junkyard/used Tundra calipers and rebuilt them, but I didn't want to spend my time doing that and then painting them.

I got fed up with my front suspension clunking or whatever the fuck it is. I just ordered some replacement ball joints for the SPC UCA's, a pair of OME 882 springs, and some outer tie rods in an effort to eliminate some potential causes and to do some maintenance that needs to be done. I also order a vent tube and cut-off valve because the gas cap didn't fix my P0440 CEL. Hopefully that solves that issue... I get a strong fuel smell on the driver's side, right behind the cab, near the front of the bed.

Anyways, that's a small update on the truck. I need to get this shit done soon... trails will be opening up here real soon.

    Oh, here's a picture too...

Got the parts in that I need for the refresh before trail season.

Got all the bearings, seals, and axle nuts to redo the front wheel bearings. Still need to find a place with a big enough press to press the bearings out lol

And I figured, while I have the spindles out, I may as well get some Total Chaos gussets welded in...

And I'm going to replace the upper ball joints... they shouldn't need it but one spews grease out of the zerk fitting, even though I replaced it, and it spews grease out of the boot...

I'm also swapping the 883's out for some 882's because I don't have a ton of weight up front and I'd like a slightly softer ride. Bonus pupper.

As for my P0440 CEL, the gas cap didn't fix it, so I ordered these parts. I think it's the valve that needs to be replaced, not really sure about tube sub assembly but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Finally, the previous owner cut up the cup holder tabs so I finally got around to replacing them. I also gave the interior a quick wipe down since it was gross. The truck really needs a nice interior detail now that spring is rolling around...

Anyways, I'm hoping to get the truck torn down this weekend so I can get all this shit sorted out.

Let me know where you end up going. I need to do the same soon on my truck, but I still have to buy the parts.

Yeah he's almost too smart for his own good. It's a challenge keeping up with him. But, he's only about a year old and he's learning quick! We just have to keep him busy lol. I can't wait to see how he is after a few years.

We just need a silver 2001 double cab in here and we'll have all years covered.

    My 2003 (I'm up in Boulder/Longmont).

Today was fun and not very productive... I decided to tackle my fuel tank valve issues. I figured it was easier to remove the bed vs dropping the fuel tank. Not entirely sure if that was the right call...

Didn't take too long to get the bed off.

I did all this work only to find out I bought the wrong parts

I need this guy... Fuel Tank Overfill Check Valve (77390-35010):

    And the associated gasket (77177-33010):

Reason being is I guess it's common for the check valve to crack as mine did...

Gonna have to wait until tomorrow to get the right parts... :drunk:

With that disappointment, I decided to try to fix the shock dust boot...

...only to find out that it's blown after less than a year :annoyed:

Lots of disappointment today. Decided to end it with some beer and some dreaming.

And here's where the truck sits until tomorrow...

While the OME kit is a decent price for everything, if I were to do it again a few years ago knowing what I know now, I would have gone all out with Kings and a custom leaf pack.

Yeah, if I end up keeping this truck, it will probably get a mild long travel set up at some point. Like Camburg or Total Chaos control arms with Kings up front and Alcan with Kings in the rear.

Well, the parts I needed showed up and I threw them in. I guess we will see if that fixes my P0440 code. I'm pretty confident it will.

While I had the bed off, I noticed a few other issues... mainly around my spare tire carrier...

So, apparently the tire was rubbing where I cut the carrier arms. Pretty badly...

You can see some of the damage here. It looks worse on camera than in person but I'm still not happy about it...

I'm gonna cut the arms here so they won't rub on the tire anymore...

That's it for now. I'm gonna drive the truck for a couple days just to make sure the code doesn't come back, before I put the bed back on.

Does your exhaust drone in the cab with it being cut off right where it is? I have a magnaflow muffler on mine and I want to do a shock relocate like @Speedytech7 did on his but my exhaust will be in the way so I’ll have to cut it where you did..

No, not at all. I didn't notice any difference vs stock. Which is good because I want to keep it as stock/quiet as possible. Toyota truck V6's just don't sound good... I don't understand why people spend the money to put exhausts on these things... I had an OME exhaust relocation bracket on it but it managed to get bent up from flexing the rear, so I just cut off the exhaust where you see it now.

    Small update

But, I got the tire carrier "fixed"...

...it shouldn't rub anymore. But, now I really want a bumper with a tire carrier... :anonymous:

Since this is all about spare tires, I picked up a cheap set of stock wheels so I could use one as a spare. I'm in need of a tire rotation and I'd like to include the spare in the rotation cycle.

^ Oh, I also put my bed back on. Seems my CEL is gone so that's nice.

As for other things I really need to do... I've been really slacking on working on this turd. I still need to pull apart my front suspension, replace pretty much everything, and get the spindle gussets welded in... I still need to pull my rear shocks and get them warrantied through OME... I still need to go around and repaint the sliders (I didn't do a very good job painting the weld joints originally, and there's some wear on the driver's side slider)... ughhh I just wanna hit the trails with no worries :annoyed:

There will always be a list. But the important thing is just getting out and enjoying the truck. I'm currently in the Maritimes after 2 weeks on the road. I'm from west coast Canada. Truck is flawless so far.

Got my tires rotated. Mileage is around 150k, give or take. Feels weird actually caring for tires. I'm so used to blasting through a set in a year or less on my E30 with it's dumb camber/toe...
