Check and see if there are any metal stores near you. I have one near me called metal supermarket that I still need to check out. I’d imagine prices and selection is way better than HD

You have a short bed? I have cleats on the side up front as well but I’m a LB? You can always use the bed bolts. The ones in the back are way longer than the ones at the tailgate area.

Hm. I’m a short bed. Didn’t realize people held their drawers secured with the bed cleats. How does that look?

@EatMeImATaco hiw much play did you allow between the top and bottom bearing? I’m thinking an 1/8th would be fine?

I just kind of eyeballed it, but it is roughly 1/8". I laid the tube across my template at the top of the spacer I used to mount it (3" up), put the bearings to the top and bottom along the centerline of the template, then nudged them slightly away from the tube and marked the hole to drill. I'll get some pictures this afternoon and post them.

Mostly finished except for finding a source for rubber flooring at a price I am willing to pay to cover the top. (Build album)

Did you do the skateboard bearings and 1x1 for your slides? I watched a video on YouTube and I think this is the route I’m gonna go. Are you going to make cubby holes along the sides too?

I did! I used the cheapest pack of 100 bearings that I could find on Amazon, and I sourced my 1x1 steel tubing from a local metal market. (Walmart/Canadian Tire/Etc were pricey for the metal, but the metal market could get me 24' (4x6' sections) for the cost of one 6' section at the box stores)

I plan on filling in the top sides with the same 1/2" plywood, and have some removable sections at the front of the bed (cab side) to access in behind the wheel well section. The rear tailgate opening I will make some doors on either side of the drawer to access the cubbies.

Yeah I'm in a SB. For the front we'll use the d rings. The back we were looking at the bed bolts but I didn't want to mess with that being bolted in the frame. I'm debating just getting an L bracket for the rear bed rail and attach that to the top of the drawers.

Has anyone else bolted the rear in with the bottom bolts?

Thats what Im going to do with mine. There is about an inch and half of threaded bolt sticking out past the bed bolt underneath. It will be fine.

No latch. I may add one later, but for now gravity (and a closed tailgate) keep them in. Since there is so little clearance between the drawer faces and the tailgate they don't move at all while driving.

I don't use drawer glides since there's no passenger side rail to attach one to. Instead I just have a couple maple ribs as side to side guides and until today 4 closet door wheels for it to roll on. Since the drawer bottom is only 3/8" ply you can imagine there was more sagging and dragging than rolling so several months ago I picked up some transfer bearings and finally got around to emptying the drawer, drilling the holes, and gluing them in. Big difference now that the entire bottom of the drawer rides on rollers or bearings. 9B032392-731E-4D18-8E3F-464E51848FB4_zps_fbac90ac0eaf17ae413e08ff73b1fc2f3dece3b1.jpg
