As of now, I am still leaning towards 600-1 and 600-2. I don't want to go on anything too technical since there will be a brand new 2018 in the group that doesn't want to scratch the wheels on his 4wd truck :notsure:.

That being said, I have never been in the Talladega district of the TNF so I don't know the trails at all. Is dispersed camping allowed there when it isn't hunting season?

Dispersed camping is allowed after hunting season in at least some areas. All the information is on the back of the hunting map. Let me see if I can find one.

This is for the Talladega Ranger district. It says no permit is needed for primitive camping outside of gun deer season.

HOWEVER! We got a warning last year for camping in the management area in late February between deer and turkey season. Apparently, the back of the hunters map lists some different dates for camping that goes until the end of Turkey season.

Either way, we should be fine anywhere in June.

I finally found it. Applies to Choccolocco Management area only. Line 5.

To camp in the management area except in designated sites. On Choccolocco Wildlife Management Area located on U.S. Forest Service lands, this camping restriction applies from Oct. 1-Apr. 30. Individuals or groups may camp on the management area for a period not to exceed nine (9) days in any 30 day period.

I'd be willing to meet you one day and go scout some areas. I'll be out of town 12th - 19th. This weekend would work.

I don't think I will actually have a free weekend until this happens.

@tweakit88 has ridden this area quite a few times, so I am going to make him lead.........
