If you want speed you are driving the wrong vehicle even the wrong manufacturer. Toyota hasn’t made a fast car since the Supra and gen 2 mr2.. the truck is under powdered for the size of the engine but that’s why it’s so reliable. They weren’t trying to squeeze every drop of power out of it. I do wish they gave us the power the fj has tho.

When I want fast and well handeling I take this out.

    Dude.

You consider 7 seconds to be slow for a heavy pickup truck?

I think that is a great time.

The sluggish feeling is an illusion caused by lesser low end torque.

0 - 60 in 7 seconds is not sluggish. At 4500 RPM, this engine pulls real hard.

Well, I have a manual transmission. And I launched at 3500-4000rpm. Also, traction control never came on, so there were no stutters that impeded on my times.

but it does have awesome road handling. the chassis is in a class of its own in the truck world but yeah it's still a truck. regardless i can swing this thing around all kinds of cars at speed. the handling, if you're setup right, is almost amazing. if you have the driving/handling skills you can toss it around way more than most drivers can do in a car. and that is some serious fun. but it's not fast, just gets momentum.

ECT is an acronym for Electronically Controlled Transmission and the ECT PWR button is a function of the redesigned transmission. When pressed, the ECT PWR button will adjust shift points so you can reach higher RPM levels before shifting into the next gear.

If you want fast, the Tacoma really isn't the vehicle for you.

Am I just old or something? When I was a teenager, 7 seconds 0-60 and around 15 seconds on 1/4 was great for a non-sports car.

That's why I am questioning why people say this truck is underpowered.

The engine is great and my times prove that from my perspective.

Of course, my opinion doesn't fit the Tacoma World cliche "TURD gen" mantra, so everyone pops in to this thread to spew their negativity.

I'm done. Negative people can miss me with that ol' crap

I just traded in a Colorado for a Tacoma and the Colorado was noticeable quicker.
