I have a strange noise coming from my front end. Sounds like I have tsl boggers on it but they are brand new km2’s. Second set of these tires, noise started here and there a month ago or so and has recently become worse. My suspicion is wheel bearing?

    could be.

I started with same symptom and never have narrowed it down.
Now it vibrates at high speed but still can't find it.

An old man I know has the same on his '98 but much worse. I'm kind of waiting for his to blow apart to know the next direction.

BTW, I changed my bearings. Weren't them.

Mine seems to get a little better at high speeds as far as the noise. Truck drives and rides smoothe. Just has this awedul noise.
    Have you changed wheel bearings?

Yea, first thing I did was bearings. Vibration didn't start 'til later.

I rebuilt my CVs, suspect needle but it doesn't go away in 4WD so I dunno.

Right on. Thanks for the reply. I suppose it could be in the front diff. That’s all new. I’ll let ya know what I find.

Yea, it's what I'm afraid is gonna show it's face. Hope not. I've kept up maintenance and it's never been full of water......or shavings.

Edit: Took off front drive shaft. No change.

If it does turn out to be that, they are easy to pull out and I just re geared not long ago but I bought my front clam shell already set up so I am kinda questioning that. A bearing change isn’t to bad on those but still a pain.

Plus if you do rock it at 12 n 6 n get no movement. Spin the wheel as fast as you can as it can still be bad. If it makes any noise other then the brakes rubbing the rotor it is bad. It will be a low pitch hum. If thats the case replace them immediately as it is super bad to drive on bad wheel bearinngs. They must be pressed out and new ones pressed in

Edit spin both driver and passenger, passenger usually fails first and as in my case was a good way to see the difference in noise when spinning the wheel. Mud terrains make it hard to spot at first

Oh right on! I think they are smoked. The low pitch hum sounds familiar. Thank you very much dudes! I’ll keep y’all posted.

When they fail completely they can do a few things. Your wheel can fly off the truck and your truck slams on the ground. It can sieze and drag you to a screeching hault, or can get so hot it welds to your spindles. It would get really load to do these things, but gives you an idea of how important wheel bearings are

Thank you! I do understand the importance. I have checked the 12 and 6 movement and have no movement, I do hear the low hum growl noise. On the road it sounds like my tires are cupped so bad and boggers. It’s a brand new set of km2’s 255’s my second set on the truck so I know it’s not the tires. It was also just aligned two weeks ago. I’ll get these bearings swapped out this weekend.
Thanks again my man. I’ll let ya know the out come.
