Supposedly this internet tv thing my buddy was telling us about has a bunch of sports channels as well, and Portuguese channels as well, which for me is a "must" because of our soccer league/games.

 

Do you know what he has.....apple tv, fire tv, PS ? Did you already say that above?

 

From the way he was explaining it, you can download the app on any android based device, and stream it like that, or on a laptop/pc. The way he is using it is, he has one of those "boxes" you can buy and install stuff on that connects to the TV, and streams it that way. Said you can have it on up to 5 devices, no extra charges or anything like that.

I need to look at something else for TV now too.

My Time Warner/Spectrum bill jumped up to $120. I have 100 mb internet and the second-cheapest TV package. I looked before and based on what my bill would be with just internet it would have been a wash to go to a $30/month service through someone else. But now, it may be worthwhile.

AT&T was offering their streaming service for something like $30 a while back, and I think it knocked my cell bill down if I went with it too.

EDIT -- Just looked and if I do Sling's $25 service, it has everything I want. That'd bring me to either $85 or $90 for both internet and TV depending on if Spectrum makes my internet $60 or $65 with no TV--saving $30-$35/month.

 

I’ve heard good thing about sling tv. I’ve had firestiks with kodi on every tv we have for a couple years now but we don’t tend to even use them. My wife mostly only wants to keep cable for on demand and DVR which is basically the same thing as streaming whatever whenever you want

 

I never really use the On Demand. I put the networks apps on my TV (AMC, FX, etc.) and it just asks me to login with my provider account (Spectrum, but I expect most of the streaming services show up too).

 

I've never paid for cable. Netflix, Amazon Prime, and not caring if I miss out on something have worked well for me!

 

I feel the biggest downside is how damn expensive internet still is it’s almost like they throw in the cable for free

 

I wish I could get less than 100 mbps and save some off the bill. I'm one person, 30 or so would be more than enough. I have a school district of 2000 people running off 500 and typical use isn't even half of that.

Guess I shouldn't complain too much, though, I looked at a few houses where I would have had to rely on satellite or 4G with a repeater.

 

My contract with Fios is up this month. I'm thinking about cutting out cable and just getting subscriptions to what I want to save a few bucks.

 

Unfortunately if you want to stream in place of tv you need the faster internet ak the cable company always gets theirs

 

Yeah, listen to this... I had TDS internet only at the house, fiber optic, for a introductory price promotion of like $55 a month. After the promotion ran out, it went up to $95 for just the internet. I called and said it's too expensive and they said well to reduce the cost I should get the bundle package. So I get phone, basic TV and the internet for $74. They had to send a technician, give me additional hardware and phone service and it's less money. I asked them, why can't you just give me the internet for the $74 without that other crap? Nope, that's how it works.

 

Like an old ex-coworker used to say: it makes sense........... if you don't think about it.

 

I have a similar situation i need fast internet for work I regularly vpn into sites when I can to save some time and when paying gor the 100mps it would of only saved me 5 dollars to just have internet opposed to the internet/tvbundle

 

Don't need 100 mbps, though. Only need around 25 to stream 4k, and most things are still at 1080, which only needs 8-12.

 

Why do the other channels have scantily clad hosts and fat guys ?

 

currently paying 116 for bundle cable, internet 50mb/s, and phone but just saw verizon has 100 mb/s internet for 40 bucks. Gonna call and see what I can change on my lunch break. Might finally cut the cord. When i got my contract it was still 100 bucks for just internet at like 25 or 50 mb/s

Hot chicks rule... the guys are just there to actually had "content" to whatever the show is.

 

Mine's $29.95/month for just cable internet, but I keep having to call every six months or so and threaten to disconnect because they've bumped it up again.
